We have moved from "joe biden had nothing to do with his sons business" to "okay, yeah so he did routinely meet with hunters business associates regularly and also talk to them on the phone but he's not the big guy as the other business partners claim" to "ok well yes hunter said joe is the big guy, and yes the checks match up to 10% but there's like zero evidence still".
We know Hunter committed crimes and used his father's name in order to further his own interests. That is all we know. That is all anyone knows. That's what pisses off the dimwitted right wingers in Congress and their even more dimwitted followers.
Personally I think hunter trying to get high off parmesan cheese while banging hookers is probably his best character arc (obviously not talking about the possibly underage ones in his laptop photos). It was certainly better than his fraud, tax or gun crimes we knows he's committed, at least.

Oh I had no false idea that this was a one off situation. Hunter is not the first and certainly won't be the last son of a politician to sell his parents influence. The problem here though is that hunter was clearly unqualified to work for a major energy company in Ukraine which obviously became a major global focal point again since joe became president. Is it unfair to ask if that influence hunter sold is now a driving force in us policy in general?
It's not unfair. It's something that happens every day. It's just that in this case Hunter had nothing to sell as opposed to actual politicians who do favors while in office as secretaries of energy coming directly from the oil industry or people leaving office and immediately getting hired on to the boards of huge multinationals.
