Joe doesn’t support independence for Taiwan.

Maybe. It’s a question of the price they’re willing to pay to do so. Between the aid we’ve provided until now, and whether or not we’d go to their aid if China ever attempts a military invasion…you’re not wrong that if China wanted it badly enough they could take the island.

But it would not be quick, easy, or cheap. Active US assistance to Taiwanese defenses would make everything that much more expensive to China.

That's exactly why we need to create economic separation between ourselves and Taiwan,.. Because when the smoke clears, China will be calling the shots on Taiwan...

We need to get our ducks in a row regarding Taiwan,.. Over the next 2-3 years we need to eliminate any and all trade dependence we have there...

Need the chip factories in AZ up and running full capacity asap.

Just watched a newer war game analysis. I realize that there are many out there. This one had the U.S. and its allies prevailing. The crux of it is the distance, roughly 100 miles. It would be devastating for both sides but worse for China. The communist party would be very vulnerable after a defeat.

Meh. Joe has publicly stated he supports the One China policy. Of course he's also stated his support for Taiwan if China invades....

“The One China policy, our One China policy, has not changed, has not changed. We oppose unilateral change in the status quo by either side and we’re committed to maintaining the peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits,” ~ Joe Biden, Nov 13, 2023

Asked in a CBS 60 Minutes interview broadcast on Sunday whether U.S. forces would defend the democratically governed island claimed by China, he replied:

"Yes, if in fact, there was an unprecedented attack." ~ Joe Biden, Sep 18, 2022

Which again, isn’t different from previous presidents. It’s the political equivalent to having your cake and eat it too.
