No where close to NBA ready...cannot create his own shot.

Stick around for your senior season kid; enjoy it while you can.

No one in their right mind would leave free college to play out of the country.

May as well buy a gun and shoot yourself in the foot.

I see, so if someone offered you 500K to play in Rome when the NBA isn't interested you'd blow it off?

His role in the NBA/ d-league would be to shoot. Not create. It's an awful draft minus outside of Simmons, Ingram, Murray and ellenson. Guys can work on their game in the pros also. That said, guys that are in college for three or four years usually aren't real NBA players usually. They could be on an NBA roster or in the league but can't play a lick. I could see him playing in the d league next year though.

If Jok can make good bucks overseaes, he should do it. Career ending/debilitating injury always has to be an issue for these guys, and for obvious reasons it may be in back of Jok's head a little more than some others. Playing one more year here is by no means a guarantee that he will be better prepared for a pro career anywhere. I think most of us are trying to be realistic and optimistic at the same time about next season. But the possibility is there that with talent issues and still unexplained funky team dynamics next year could be a train wreck.

IMO, not NBA ready. As a shooter yes. As defender as ball handler no. Bodywise, eh, maybe

He should stay, work on his game' move back to the two, become "the man" and will likely be 1st round pick next year.

I would question if Uthof is NBA material, let alone thinking Jok can go. white and Marble had more game than Uthoff and they are not making the big paycheck. Offense gets you to the next level and Jarrod has not proven he can consistently do that

Marbles on the magic. In the last I've years out of the big ten the only above average plays from the big ten are oladipo and draymond green

Nova's athleticism really bothered Uthoff today, I would bet some NBA execs are reevaluating his prospects.

Cannot blame him for taking a look. Not good for us if he goes but why not?
I almost think the pro route now would set up the program to jump start some youth. We would need a his points, but if 2016-2017 is a development year, break them all in together.

White does not have more game than Utoff. He got to the line, and lived off of put backs and dunks. Utoff can shoot and with good spacing, drive and finish. I don't know if it's even a debate.

If I was only one year away from getting a free degree after investing 3 years. Absolutely.

Any overseas thing is still going to be there a year later.

As has been stated, PJ is not NBA ready, That said, He should explore all his options, Maybe he is very interested in playing overseas. I have no idea what is inside his head, He and he alone is responsible for his personal happiness and he should do what he feels best to bring happiness to his life.

Agree, but put him with 4 other guys that can actually be a threat to make buckets and things change. I think some teams realized take away utoff and Iowa doesn't have much else, or take way everything else and Utoff would have to score 40+ a night.

I think he is considering it for multiple reasons. First off, he is not going to be drafted to create his shot just as a pure shooter which he can already do. He always has overseas to fall back on and the paychecks can be substantial. Some athletes go to college and major in something they do not ever plan to use. Not saying thats the case because I dont know but you cant say that it doesnt happen. Pete has had his injury history and probably knows next years team will be an adjustment. Like others have said the draft is not loaded with talent this year

The NBA is a different game.

Guys like Uthoff get a pay check to stand in the corner for 10 minutes a game and occupy a defender.

It can't hurt to explore his options. As someone else said, this draft will be the weakest in recent memory. If next years draft is stronger, He could have a good senior year and not be drafted any higher than he would this year.

So is one year of college after you've made a couple of million while you're still young.

If he his chances of making the NBA are nil now and only marginal if he stays another year, why would he stay in IC for a year and risk an injury?

Joks a great shooter but mediocre at everything else.

Iowa is likely not an ncaa team with him next year so not really that important.

Next year is a rebuilding year.

Common sense?

Hes going to try to make the nba.

He's nowhere nearly good enough, mainly because he's a lazy drama queen. All those eye pokes I don't even know how he can see.

If that's his dream then I wish him luck. " common sense" however would tell him that a couple million dollars playing in Europe is something he needs to consider.

Hahaha..... Sorry man. Jok isn't good enough to be making a couple million. That is freaking comical.

I'm not nervous about the NBA, it's the European leagues. I don't think he'll end up leaving, but it's bizarre for him to say that after the game. There's something here, but I hope it goes away after Fran talks some sense into him. Really hope this doesn't mean there's a rift between the coaching staff and Pete.

Next year is a rebuilding year.
And that is truly sad with a regime in it's seventh year and is not dealing with NCAA violations.

IMO, he doesn't have any believable "pro options" right now.

Want him back but if he goes, he goes. That's why you keep on recruiting lots of guys. We have immediate playing time at multiple spots and need for primary scorers so that's a plus.

Why not test the waters?

Other than being a good shooter with sound mechanics, his game is a long way from what he'd need to make it as an NBA 2 guard. But, how much better a ball handler, creator of his own shot, and defender is he going to become between now and the 2017 draft?

I don't see him ever in the NBA. What the check, though. Might as well give it a shot.

Care to share the Twitterverse? Only thing I saw was from a media member that simply asked Jok if he was considering the NBA. His response is what I'd expect, not that he's going pro.

Given the terribly hard family life that he had before he came to this country, he may have some entirely different things to consider outside of basketball. The potential payout he could be looking at might factor into what he wants to do with his life once he is no longer a Hawkeye.

I truly wish him the best. Very few of us fans can even imagine some of the things he's faced in his young lifetime.

Good luck, PJ!
