Since it is terrible life decision day I would also like to announce my intentions to try and go pro.
Not poking at your opinion, but care to elaborate? My argument would be next year, we're not going to be much more than a Bubble team at best so might as well get the younger guys going since Jok can't make us a huge contender by himself.Going to be in the extremely small minority that thinks it's better if Jok leaves.

Lol makes sense. Perfectly reasonable. I'd also add that I would love to have him back. I was just playing devil's advocate above. That's part of it. Plus I don't think Jok's much of a team leader of player. Might be best to start anew.
I was going to write a whole thing about it, but didn't want to come off more of a douche than I already am.

I see your point but I think at least being a bubble team and potentially sneaking in (I still am more optimistic than most here) is good for the program in the sense that Fran can continue to sell a streak or being relevant. We need the program to be at a point where we are in every year and the down years just mean we are borderline. We are close but without Jok we may not make the NIT imo. I do think it would help break in the youth but I'm not sure that is better for the program long term. Not poking at your opinion, but care to elaborate? He could play in the d league.Sounds like a guy that would rather continue his basketball education in Europe instead of Iowa. If he is committed to a future in BB perhaps not a bad decision.
He would be dumb not to check this out. The new rules allow him to test out and get a grade. If he has some great workouts and he's a response that suggests he will be drafted, then we could chose to go. If he gets a negative review, then he stays at Iowa with no harm done. It's a win/win for him.
I hope you know that this doesn't mean Jok is leaving Iowa this season. There is a new rule that underclassmen can participate in the NBA draft process and still return to school. It would be stupid of Jok to not do this.Lol, have fun in Europe Peter.
He's doing the smart thing testing the waters with the new rules, but I think he will be back and will be the feature guy in Iowa's offense.
He has a chance to be a first rounder if he stays gets a little stronger going to the rim and defense. He should easily be first team big and AA canidate if he stays.Sounds like a guy that would rather continue his basketball education in Europe instead of Iowa. I listen to all the KxNO podcasts. I have tried Marty's podcasts also (don't recall the station), but "fired" him and haven't listened to him for months. He spews so much uninformed garbage just to get a reaction. I have no time for that crap. You guys are familiar with Marty, aren't you? He's trolling. Testing the waters is not "opting out". Hiring an agent would be "opting out".
With the new rule, I think I read where there are roughly 3x the number of kids expected to go through the process this year compared to last (like 120ish vs 48 or something last year), including the entire Kentucky roster, even walk-ons. Honestly, they may have opened a can of worms. If there is no drawback, why not have EVERY kid on every team go through the process?Very common process. Players get a chance to get evaluated and can still go back to school. He has no reason not to do this. Doesn't surprise me in the least bit.
