Jordan looking good health wise

You know what I mean, NBA teams will have to up the ante to get his services if he gets the award. Not that difficult to comprehend.

Luka's NBA prospects won't increase because he wins POY. If he isn't on NBA teams radars now, winning POY won't affect them at all. They don't draft because of college awards.

I think Luka could make a large chunk of cash overseas. I am not sure how his game fits the modern NBA.

Agreed, Luka could have a very good, long term career overseas and make a lot of money.

I am guessing Garza & Weezy will get evaluated by the NBA; i hope they are both told to go back to college and work on their game ;)

my goodness; we are scoring 80 ppg with the current 8 man rotation; we lose Kriener but add JBo, Nunge & PMac.

The one worry I have is if everyone comes back plus the guys returning from injury plus add in the freshmen does Fran role with a deep bench and play 9-11 guys a game? I think there is a huge risk a big rotation throws off the rythm of the team. I think a big reason why Iowa has been playing so well is that Garza, Weiskamp and Fredrick are getting 30 plus minutes a game. How much do you cut into their minutes and how much do you cut into Connor and Joe T's minutes? Iowa loses Kriener and Evelyn but gain back Bohannon, Nunge and Patrick. Bohannon likely gets around 25-30mpg which would be basically what Kriener and Evelyn played. Fredrick is too valuable defensively so if you cut his minutes do we sacrifice more D?

This. Iowa is better this year in part because our best players play the bulk of the minutes. If everyone comes back with a healthy JBo, redshirts should be considered for some of the incoming freshmen. We don’t press enough to warrant playing 10 or 11 guys. Play your best 8 or 9 and let the others know the best thing for the rest both individually and from a program standpoint would be to redshirt.

Bringing this thread back to Jordan... assuming he is healthy, holy shit the floor could be spread. Biggest beneficiary might be Toussaint. I expect him to make a big jump next year.

Assuming everybody returns, Jordan, CJ, Weez, Garza, Nunge all stretch the floor. Lots of space for attacking the paint off the dribble. Hell, maybe Pemsl has enough space and time to get some bench low post scoring. Who knows. He has had no physical setbacks so far this year. Maybe next year he gets his confidence back in his body and game. I think of him like the ACL tear guys. First season back they kind of struggle trusting their body, then the season after they return to something closer to pre-injury.

I will always root for Cordell. Love that kid.

Yeah, if you put 3 shooters on the perimeter that the D can't leave it opens up the pick game for him and Garza.

Have to consider draft class, too. I think the word is this year’s class is weaker than what is anticipated for 2021 class.

Personally I think both Garza and Weez stay. They’re taking this program to a new level and have very attainable next level next season. The energy is returning to Carver. Neither family is in bad shape financially. Weez is just starting to scratch the surface, just starting to learn how to create for himself off the dribble. Iowa could have the country’s best 5 and a top-three wing next year, with the right parts around them for them to thrive.
Joe W. is very good. However, I would not consider him Elite quite yet. And, you better be elite when you jump to the NBA.

I am not convinced that Joe T would be the starting point guard if everyone including J Bo is back.

My guess is Conner starts at the 4, Joe W at the 3, CJF at the 2, and J Bo at the point.

Nunge would be available to back up Garza and he could also be next man in at the 4. Depending on the match up perhaps P Mac could play some 4 too. I question if Pemsl sees much time. Joe T and the starting guards (including Joe W) eat most of those minutes up and the best of the incoming freshman fills up a few too. I could see a bunch of redshirts for the incoming class unless they beat someone out.

If we need to we could go big, get quicker, and increase the defense intensity with Joe T.

I still maintain Tom K knows something that’s not yet public as he’s been quick to tell us to pump the brakes on next seasons optimism. It’s too much fun not to think about what could be, but things change and there are no guarantees we’ll get to play this game for real.

I did not claim him elite now. I said he's just starting to scratch the surface now that he's beginning to figure out how to create his own shot. Once he has that in-between game off the bounce I do think he will be an elite college wing, like top-five in country.

If it isn’t premium info, what did Tom say and when was it?

It wasn’t premium, but he simply encouraged people to pump the breaks on what next year could be and focus on enjoying the group we have. I don’t have the link handy, bit it was MY INTERPRETATION that everyone being back was not a given.

Cool - thanks for sharing. I obviously didn’t see the context of Tom’s comment, but that reads like it could just be a general statement. Hopefully that’s the case, at least

Having your weaknesses exposed is the risk. Garza isn't being exposed as much as he would trying to cover more pick and rolls in man 2 man.

The NBA will know what his weaknesses are. You can't hide things.

To me it seems like a weird move but his dad is a different kind of character.
