Just noticed in J Heater's stat wrap-up that MLB Josie Jewell led the Hawks in missed tackles with 19 this year. Reminded me of a stat my Dad used to share with his players - how Babe Ruth held the MLB record for home runs, but also for strikeouts. His point was that to be great you had to take chances, and give everything you had on every play. Josie's stats are also influenced by how broadly he roamed the field, sideline to sideline, deep beyond the line of scrimmage to deep into the secondary, trying to make tackles that were sometimes impossible to reach. Best linebacker in America.
BTW, I wish the haters would compare the actual statistical data on Bo Bower to the anecdotal stories of missed tackles. He was really solid in a really solid defense, so often coming up big when we needed him. He missed an average of .75 tackles per game. And Ben Niemann's numbers were even better.
What a job the Hawks have of replacing those three remarkable players.
