Junior Class Targets?

I was holding him to the expectations that I would have for any journalist and that is being unbiased. That wasn't fair. Willie is a huge wrestling advocate and fan and happens to be a journalist also. As I previously stated, I was kind of over sensitive after seeing my Hawks tank every match and I hold no ill will. He's a pretty good dude that happens to root for the enemy.
Unbiased views in any new / media / reporting is almost impossible to find these days. Willie seems about as down the middle as it gets in wrestling. Most Hawk fans don't like to hear anything good about another program, mostly because we know Iowa is all that really matters. When it comes to evaluation of wrestling talent, not sure there is anyone better out there than Willie, he specializes in being an expert and it shows. His music takes are a totally different thing, those seem to be for entertainment purposes only and sometimes border on absurd.
If nothing else I give him a lot of credit for bringing Who's #1 to IC, which was a great event in a very short timeframe and gave the best kids a chance to wrestle in front of the best fans.

Nothing Iowa related. Nelson had to be one of them. I think we still get another B1G announcement this week

I seen on the predicament a interview with Joel Jesuroga. He sounded like he would be committing to a D1 program soon. I'd imagine him and his brother are a package deal. Let's hope that he chooses Iowa.

I have a feeling our next commit won’t be til after official visit weekend which is usually sept/oct.
This could be true for the Class of 23. But the train is leaving the station for the Class of 22. 17 of the top 25 on Mat Scouts 2022 Big Board are committed.

Mendez said he won’t be committing til after he does all of his visits. Indicated December. Could be the same for others. Have to figure these are the top Guys Iowa is going after in 2022:
Jesuroga 49
Mendez 41/49
Bouzakis 33/41
Franklin 197
Land 25/33
Garvin 157
Riggins 165
Voelker 197

Hayden Taylor was just interviewed on Iawrestle. Said that he had an in home visit with Iowa and has an official visit scheduled during the Iowa/PSU game.

Circle Oct 9th on your calendars. I would imagine that there will be a lot of highly ranked wrestlers in attendance that day.

I love Iowa wrestling and wrestling in general… I know of the scholarship limits, etc. Iowa’s a Top 3 overall program… shouldn’t guys be beating down our door?

I think of Alabama and Clemson in football… Coming off (what should have been ) back to back titles and hopefully another coming soon… reasons why some top tier wrestlers choose lesser programs?

General curiosity … (I know we can’t land every kid but one would think our pedigree would have top guys scratching to get in the front door)…

From my understanding they made him an offer that’s going to be very tough to refuse.
Haven’t seen a lot of lightweight success at UNC since Colman/Ramos. I’ve seen they have got talent in but haven’t developed them well. I don’t count O’Connor cause I see 49 as a middleweight.

I’m talking about Joel who projects at 141/149 which is right in the wheelhouse for UNC right now.

Look my source may be way off base here, but that’s just what I was told and thought I would share

UNC needs to be on our schedule.
As for the Jesuroga’s, it is a longgggg way from home.

nate is clearly a great prospect, but where do people see him fitting with the hawks? If ybarra and drake both can’t make 125 in a few years, then it makes sense. But I have viewed drake as a 125 lifer

I think we worry too much about where blue chippers fit in the mix. Can’t we just concentrate on discussing their spirituality?

That is what the coaches get paid for.

I think Ybarra is more likely to be battling at 133. Drake may or may not be 125 lifer. I agree he could be but he is pretty lanky so it's no guarantee. Nate is pretty small, could be a candidate to go OTC for a year to get up to size depending on how much he grows. Guys like Bassett will be coming along, someone mentioned a possible connection to Luke Lilledahl. Who know what weights they will be at and where they end up going to school. A top 10 overall likely 125 in your own state would seem like a guy you go after though. PSU doesn't seem too worried about how many studs are in the mix in their lineup.

If Drake is a lifer I will be shocked. Now if they get Bouzakis and Mendez for 133/141 then Drake will be cutting to 125.
