I might be just petty but on the spot of the punt that went out of bounds in the second quarter. I just watched the replay and find it mind boggling how the referee could of come to his conclusion.

1) The ball landed out of bounds approximately 15 feet left of the sideline.

2) The ball landed laterally to the equivalent of the 9 yard line.

3) The ball was spotted at the 11 yard line.

I am not a mathematician but in order for that to happen the ball would have to literally be in the air inbounds to the 11 yard line and head sideways at a 160 degree angle and land laterally to the 9 yard line.

The correct call is the ball is spotted at the trajectory point where it went out of bounds . This probably occurred closer to the 17-20 yard line

And a sideline warning to the Iowa bench and no such warning on the Ohio bench when Meyers is continually out onto the field and at one point on the field during an active play

Really? .

We had a spirited "discussion" about this in our section at the game ... the ref couldn't grasp the simple principles of geometry on that play.

Just watched a replay and yeah, I don't see how you spot the ball at the 11. I don't think the wind was gusting to 60 mph from behind the pressbox.

When I saw it live I immediately thought 19 or 20 yard line. Glad it had no bearing on the outcome.

WE got a good spot on a 1st down we made by an inch. I think it mostly evens out. OSU had a lot of penalties, last week vs Minny it was us.

I was SCREAMING at the refs. You missed that spot by AT LEAST 10 yards. I guess they couldn't hear me.

I think a sideline seeming is only given when a player or coach actually impedes an official. So, it is not that a coach cannot be on the field...

One of the refs literally pushed Meyer back out of bounds at one point while trying to take his position on the sideline. Thought that was interesting that wasn't worthy of sideline interference.

Watched the replay and that spot was total BS. Makes one wonder about officials integrity and gambling.

Disagree, the spotting was bad all game. Jackson INT, the ball was in the end zone when he landed and momentum carried him back. And there was that sequence where we got the first down twice but they spotted us short both times. Think it was the late FG.

Officials did a fair job otherwise.

That ref doesn't spot the ball when it goes out in the air. He's looking up field to the referee who is supposed to indicate where he saw it go out as this ref comes up the side line. But agree it didn't look right.
