Iowa hidden yardage

Add in his reception and rushing yards for “all purpose” yards and he’s really close to 1,000.
Iowa is elite in tackling, defense, special teams, and effort. Iowa needs to bring the offense up a level. It is remarkable
how our defense always gives 100 percent effort after watching the Iowa offense

The Iowa way relies on 4 things to be successful. 1) defense 2) special teams 3) not turning the ball over, and 4) a steady dose of average to poor opponents.

It usually works for a decent record but it’s nearly unwatchable.
Not really true ... just look to Iowa's game against Ohio State this year.

Iowa's defense and special teams made the game interesting for a half ... but the inability of the O to move the ball combined with a number to turnovers turned the tide in the game and ultimately made it a laugher.

Compared to prior years, the O looks light-years ahead of where it was. However, it's understandable to expect the rebuild to take some time. Obviously Iowa's running game made great strides. However, the passing game has been a pain-point the entire season.

Now, if the Hawks featured a balanced O along with the defensive play we've observed over the prior years ... then we're talking about an Iowa team that is quite watchable and closer to being CFP-worthy.

There is such a thing as luck.

It's just pretty much never an important factor in sports and especially football

A game played with an OBLONG ball and, I don't know the f'n WIND, by the very definition is without question impacted by luck. Just because year over year it averages out and finds its level relative to a teams preparation, playstyle, and skill doesn't mean that the luck doesn't exist. Patently absurd statement when there's very few things in this universe that aren't impacted by probability (i.e. luck). Hell, your personality is more determined by luck than free will but football isn't?

I understand and agree on the underlying principle behind what you're saying but there's no reason to take it to an extreme or into some absolutist maxim.

Yeah, yeah 8-4, broken record. Real impressive with wins over the number 8,11,12,14,16, and 17 teams in the league. Not to mention losses to 13 and 15. Lipstick. 💄💄🐷🐷
Very good defense and special teams. Very one dimensional offense with no passing game to speak of. It's an above average team. Nothing more. Nothing less. We all know that. Most of us anyway.

Iowa is one of FIVE P5 teams to win 8+ games per year the last TEN years. Not limited to the Big, all of P5!

Broken record maybe, but only five teams have done that ten years in a row. Pretty ****ing elite.

BTW most teams don't play many ranked teams per season and the Big conference ain't chopped liver. Ask blue blood nebraska.

It's the schedule stupid .... Iowa is not competitive vs the good teams. The elite D thing is a myth and the offense is offensive as we all know.
So your solution is to schedule even more good teams, which we're not competitive with to begin with (in your words)....when our obvious downfall has always been offense no matter who we play, good or bad? I wonder how the defense might respond when they aren't forced to pitch a shutout every single game? I wonder how quick they would wear down if our offense was able to pick up a few first downs per drive, and consistently put points on the board? You're right, those two things would not help at all. Let's go ahead and schedule the NFC North, while completely ignoring the offensive side of the ball. Surely that will make us elite and we'll be trading haymakers with Oregon, Ohio State, and Alabama in no time.
