A few observations:
Wow did we try to give that game away early.
Two of Nebraska's TD's were either directly attributable to nearly directly attributable to blown calls. Their first TD at the end of the first half, absolutely blatant holding (both arms wrapped around the player, pulling him away from the QB/sack) sprung the long play that put them in scoring position. Then, on the punt return for a TD, we had good coverage but Nebby guy grabs a guy who was in position to make the tackle just as the receiver is catching it. Grabs him from behind and gets a two-fer: holding and block in the back. That was how he got loose initially for that run. I can't fathom how either of these two plays were missed...both extremely obvious and clear penalties and both right where the refs should be looking.
Jake looked downfield a ton in that game...but made some mistakes in the process.
Missed a WIDE OPEN Powell for an easy TD in the second half.
That game should have been a blowout win for Iowa, but I wouldn't lay it on Ferentz. The players made some great plays and they made some mistakes. The refs did the rest.
