Kaden Wetjen still NOT on scholarship. He plans on coming back (he's 98% sure)

Not my words.

He’s not getting an offer he can’t refuse.
Not sure what you mean by "Not my words". You asked who was going to give him a better deal. I have no idea. But if 98% means, I'll take a better deal if it comes along...he's not really committed.

Does he have a full scholly yet? That would seem to be a no-brainer. Then, let's get him the ball.

If I’m Wetjen, I put my name in the portal after that comment by KF. KF is an idiot to make such a comment. Contemplating it. wtf?!! There is nothing to contemplate. Put the guy on schollie or lose him.
Yeah, there’s case studies and recruiter stories ad nauseam about this type of situation. Steady and impactful contributor goes unrewarded. Contributor tenders notice. Supervisor makes effort to retain.

Most of the time, the contributor leaves to their offer in hand, even in the face of a marginally better offer by their current, yet tardy, organization.

Hope the Hawks square this for him, but nothing would surprise me at this point.

He is getting NIL money. All players do from the program depending on how much they do for and with swarm. And he’s not making enough from the NIL to offset the value of a schollie. How he hasn’t been on schollie since last year and utilized in the passing game or in some form of motion reinforces how offensively inept KF and this staff truly are with the lack of wide receiver play for years.

You have no idea how much he is.compensated. I do. Its enough for him to say he is 98% sure.he is going to return as a Hawkeye. I'm going to assume he isn't stupid and is being taken care of. If there is a role for him.in the offense Lester will find it.

Teams started kicking away from him midway through the season. If he starts at WR and Sullivan at QB from the beggining, this team loses no more than 2 games. Would've put a stop to the box loading real freaking fast.

Then tell us if you know.

After Kirk's comment and Wetjen's performance this Year if He is not put on schollie and another Team swoops in and takes Him that in My mind is grounds for termination, Kirk has thru the Years made some Player comments that were borderline gross incompetence , He should not get a pass on Wetjen if He craps this situation down His leg.

Like the kid and he's fun to watch the 5ish times per game he actually gets to run after he catches it. But, serious question: are any of our 2024 wins due to his efforts? As in, put a guy at returner who fair catches everything: which of our wins would have been losses?

Portal is closed. So if he comes back Iowa is his option. Odds of him being on scholarship will be very high. But with other NIL and compensations he won’t be paying for school where other perferred walk ons get $ amount that covers tuition.

He should be on scholly at Iowa. But if the above is true, it ain't 98%.I

Another "portal" win. ;)

Don't D1 teams go to 105 man rosters next year with all of them being scholarships? Won't need walkons and everybody gets a scholarship. So he has one at Iowa next year. Plus they get to start paying large sums of revenue money to players. Same with basketball. It goes to 15 scholarships and revenue sharing.

Isn't this all a moot point?

I believe the 105 man roster limit rule also upped scholarships to 105.

"Can" issue 105 scholarships but not required to. As far as I've heard Iowa hasn't announced anything on that front.

I found it very interesting one of the announcers made the comment that Lester told them "It clicked for him during bowl prep, prior to that I couldn't trust him as we would call a play and he would run the wrong route."

This is why he has not been seeing more time as a WR, but they could have used him on some of the sweeps more.
