Mark Kallenberger committed to Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz today.

Bettendorf offensive lineman Mark Kallenberger has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Kallenberger announced his decision on Twitter this morning after a visit to Iowa's spring practice.

A three-star prospect, Kallenberger chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Missouri, Western Michigan, Colorado State, and Eastern Michigan.

Kallenberger is the seventh commitment for the Iowa coaching staff in the Class of 2017, joining A.J. Epenesa, Juan Harris, Coy Kirkpatrick, Tristan Wirfs, Jacob Coons, and Djimon Colbert.

HawkeyeReport.com will have much more on Kallenberger and his decision shortly.

This kid is the real deal.

Oh baby! What a great piece of news this is! Welcome Mark! You just made my day and set off a celebration all across the Hawkeye fan base! Thank you for saying yes to Iowa. Now, we just need Dykstra to do the same.

You would think a RB (ENO) would look at our OL recruits for next year and be thinking to himself that maybe this might be a good situation to be in! This kid is the real deal, as good as RP IMO and actually better because he has size to play OT

Well, that's nice for the Hawkeyes, I guess.

Not many of his 'offers' were committable, though*, since all the other teams view him as only a fallback recruit.**

*Totally joking here. Satirical response to another post on your board.

**I'm sure he's a great kid. Congrats and I hope he does well for your team.

Two 3-star recruits is a selling point?

OK I will make them 4* good enough for you?

I'm not ragging on our commits. I'm just saying Eno has a lot of offers and I'm sure quite a few of those teams have higher profile OL recruits. Our signings are great for us, and I like them. I'm just saying it's not making waves across the country with RB recruits.

Maybe not all RB recruits, but those that are following Iowa and have Iowa on a short list might appreciate a few 6'6" 250+ o linemen who have some other pretty good offers and are borderline 4* recruits and now have iowa 10-15th ranked recruiting class in 2017. Having two sought after O linemen that are in the ear of Eno probably will not hurt the case. If we can get Dystra (now Miami offer) that would be 3 pretty damn good linemen who were top priorities to a school who is known for evaluating and developing top notch OL...it at the very least gives the coaches another weapon in the recruiting arsenal with early OL commits

A talent like Benjamin is probably not basing his decisions on the recruitment of offensive lineman in the same class that will probably need 2 years before participating in the huddle. I'm guessing he wants to play right away considering the shelf life on a RB these days.

yeah, whatever

The key is we've gotten two of our 4 o line offers to commit and we stand pretty good with Dykstra. I really hope we get Eno too. The elephant in the room with the good class we've gotten so far is nothing at wide receiver.

Would really, really like to see Dykstra in Hawkeye Black n Gold for about 4-5 years!

#goHawks :)

Bingo!! a bigger selling point might be Waechter, the Paulsens, Daniels, Newborg etc.
