Looks like Stratton gets the go against Maryland.

Cade is taking his NIL $$$ and going home it sounds like. Probably physically and mentally gassed at this point. And Iowa needs to see what it has at QB position before portal opens, all makes sense to give Jackson a 2 game audition here. Lester loves his arm talent and he does have some wiggle to his game like CJB.
Cade can't give us the threat to make plays with his feet ala Sullivan and Cade knows this. He's been injured enough so he probably is just going to call it a day. He's been a wreck since fall camp last season.

I just listened to Leistikow and Dochterman talk about this. Doc said it was the strangest QB situation he has seen under Kirk. On Monday, Cade was announced as medically cleared and #1 on the depth chart, but has since seemed to disappear. They asked Kirk about the situation and he gave Kirk answers.

They think the big news will be if Cade travels to Maryland or not. They think not. Doc thinks Cade has taken his last snap as a Hawkeye.
I watched that. They were very "careful" in their comments. They made it sound like Cade quit on the team but they didn't want to say that.

If he his healthy and KF wanted him to go and he didn't want to, that will likely close the sad chapter on Cade.

I think that's very possible. The body can only take so much and the brain listens.

Or maybe head trauma is not worth it? I mean 3 more games max for him anyway. Most don't want him out there. I guess we will find out in a week for Senior Day at home huh?

Could very well be. But it might have been a nice thing to at least stick around to backup and support the other guys.

This is assuming the rumors that he’s quit the team are true.

I just hope we finally find a QB

If that's the answer, then he's right. He can be physically able to go but you can't play of you're afraid of getting hurt - especially in the head.

Not to mention if he reads social media, why risk his future* if you're not wanted?

* Future meaning something other than a pro QB,

Setting aside for the moment whether or not McNamara is finally at this point saying he's had enough, the entire mess with the QB situation is owned by Kirk.
He has completely failed in management of that position for multiple consecutive seasons, and other years throughout his tenure.

Just me, but I thought Stratton had a peculiar throwing motion. .very mechanical.
But if Lester honestly likes him then I assume he is passable at minimum.
It did seems different to me in a positive way. That of which I hadn’t seen from an Iowa QB in awhile.

Also, in reading between the lines, I think Kirk is really open to the idea to giving this kid a shot. Almost like telling Lester via the interview that he wants to go with JS.

Um.... As we now know, he's only going with Stratton because there isn't anybody left. He's the only guy left in the room.

If you want some affirmation about Stratton read Lester's comments about the way he likes the way he delivers the ball. You mentioned the bad pass that ended the last drive he also led us to a touchdown the drive before. I see this as a chance to give a talented young QB an opportunity to gain some valuable in game experience.
I guess I need to go back further than 4 minutes, maybe watch entire 4th

Who gives a shit as long as he delivers the ball to a spot on time? Throwing motion doesnt matter at all.

Touch and timing matter.
Making good decisions quickly matters.
