Kamala Harris

lol, just gossip imo. She lost to the worst republican candidate we’ve ever seen by a mile. She’s a terrible candidate and will never have a legitimate chance at the presidency ever. Let’s be honest, the only reason she’s VP is her race and gender.
Agreed. The Dems have far better options in the future than Harris. They would be bananas to put her on the ticket again. Remember, she didn't even make it to starting line in 2019 v. a field of fellow Dems.

Part of this is that I live in the dumbest possible timeline.

The only thing propping up and talking about Kamala Harris as a potential candidate in 2028 is the rightwing info/media complex. And they dominate the conversation. There are literally no Democrats in any position anywhere talking her up. She deserves absolutely no deference in 2028. What losing Democrat has ever received any deference per the next election cycle? This is so stupid. It's more about MAGA jerk-offs masturbating than anything else.

Al Gore is probably the only Democratic candidate in my lifetime who had earned any kind of deference per 2004 due to the circumstances of his "loss", and he got no deference at all. I can't remember if he even ever formally said he wasn't going to run?

If Harris runs for Governor of California in 2 years and has a great record and turns into a Barack Obama or Bill Clinton in the next 8-12 years sure maybe she's got a chance in 2036, although I highly highly highly doubt it. She would be too old hopefully by that point. I'm assuming the Dems are going to win in 2028 so 2032 is shut off for her.

Republicans are the only party where losers get 2nd chances (see Nixon, sort of Reagan, and then the cult leader Trump). I guess Adlai Stevenson getting the Dem nomination twice in a row was seen as kind of a weird coincidence, he wasn't really the top candidate pre-convention in either 52 or 56.

She’s going to have to be different than Newsome. He’s won a couple times and even survived a recall but it’s pretty split in California about how people feel concerning him. He can win the state but I don’t think his record in California will resonate nationally.

Also, she’s not good at articulating her positions. I do think she can win the governorship. I don’t see her running for president again, she’s not good at this. I also don’t think it’s just some “right wing news echo chamber” about her running in 2028. She has added some fuel to that fire herself. Personally, I don’t think she has a snowball’s chance in hell of getting out of a primary and think had they held one in 2024 she wouldn’t have won.

To be fair to Harris, I think she ran about the best campaign she could have run under the circumstances. She was never my preferred candidate but I'm simply not sure there was enough time at that point to have any sort of mini-primary battle, and I think a brokered convention would have been disastrous.

In hindsight, I think the Dems lost this election when Biden chose to run for a 2nd term, or at least not allow for an open primary season where other legit Democratic candidates felt capable of running.
This. ^^ With one additional thought. FWIW, I think Harris made it closer than a clearly addled Biden would have.

But IMO the die was cast when Harris was selected as VP. If the Dems could have bumped a solid VP in June, I think that they would have won. But by the time the Hiding Biden strategy collapsed, it was too late. It was Harris or bust. They should have never been in that pickle.

That is true about the general public, but it does not change the fact that she will never again be nominated to run for the presidency.
She won't run again. My guess is she will exit actively trying to seek any office.

Look man, we can point fingers all day long. Bottom line, she fvcking lost. Nobody to blame but the democrats for completely fvcking up the whole process.
I posted when Biden was the candidate, and when Harris was the candidate that turnout would be the deciding factor. Not enough people turned out for a variety of reasons. None of them good reasons in my opinion.

Going moderate is what cost the Dems the election.
Nailed it. Bernie probably beats Trump. Or an open primary winner would.
It wouldn't suprise me to see her out of politics.

If you are honest you will admit she is incredibly unlikable. She would get drag raced in a primary.

I'm guessing she goes into consulting or back into law.
She’s likable enough to non racists and misogynists. We’re littered with both, but especially the latter.
