This is an easy one...Kemerer all the way, not even close!
In all seriousness..... KemDawg will give him all that he wants! They both have non-stop attacking styles, that's what's going to make it a Great match! Anticipate KD to get to Nolf's legs- a lot! He finishes- he wins.... Think Nolf has an upper hand if they scramble. Only other question?? How's KD lungs in a high intensity match with like Nolf?? An Amazing wrestler! Can't wait to see him in Black and Gold!

Pinters. Nolf is the meanest wrestler in the country. He doesn't wrestle to win, he wrestles to dominate and if you get a takedown on him he coming to physically break you

Are you infering that Nolf needs HR board material for motivation? That wouldn't speak very highly of him. What happens on the mat is between the two opponents, not the fans or even the coaches in any given match. That's what is so great about wrestling, there's no one to blame but yourself (and in some cases the ref, but that's the case in any sport).
Yep I do. With social media, including message boards, I know these kids read whatever they can find. They not reading it for motivation they reading it because it's out there. This poll is fun for you guys but it won't be fun for Kem
If I'm to believe that Marinelli dominated Kem immediately upon his arrival like some of you stated, then I can't see him keeping it close with Nolf. I can however see Kem getting a few takedowns but against Nolf it won't matter. Nolf breaks him by start of the third period if he hasn't already gotten the fall.

I'm not here to stir the pot. I believe my only other post on HR was to congradulate Iowa when they got Lee. If anyone stirred the pot it's Pinters or whoever put up this poll and the 14 people that voted for Kem.
Kem's a good kid and a great wrestler, but to compare him to Nolf at this point? Let him major JoJo or dominate everyone in top 10 like Nolf does and then you can do your polling.

Kem is a serious stud and if he were our 49'er I'd say he has a shot at 2nd place, as a 57, he also has a shot at 2nd place. Both big asks, but he has huge potential. At either weight, I don't think he will be ready to take the top spot.
I think he will get much better throughout the year, but, imo, he won't be able to beat Nolf this year. Nolf +9.

As to the animus involved in a matchup. I think these two are pretty close from their YG days. I have not doubt both will wrestle hard, but i doubt there will be malice.

Kem will be very good, one of the few in the country who will have a gas tank that I think can hold up to Nolf's constant pressure. That said, being objective you have to put Nolf ahead at this point. This thread is very similar to the Gman/Suriano thread...Kind of silly to expect anything but a comfortable 3-5 win for the veteran on both sides. Not saying something different can't happen, but there is no evidence to indicate that in either case right now.
I'll be thrilled if Kem doesn't give up bonus. That in itself will likely show that he's good enough to be 2nd place. Nolf is just that good.

Yeah, everyone always thinks that this person or that person is going to cruise to multiple titles. It occasionally happens that way, but there is almost always somebody that emerges and challenges. I would be surprised if Nolf just coasted through the next 3 seasons unchallenged.
Kemerer won't get bonused, but I don't see him beating Nolf as of now. Doesn't mean he won't possibly beat him in the future, they will have 3 seasons of facing eachother at 157, plus they are already super familiar with eachother due to Young Guns. If Kemerer finishes 2-2-2-1 at NCAA's so be it, but I think he will win a title eventually! Still voted for KemDawg on the poll though

I can see Gilman [vs Suriano] & Nolf [vs Kem] both winning their matches comfortably in the dual meet. But I think there could be 5x as many pts scored in the 157 bout.
Gilman with a controlled 5-1(ish) match & Nolf with a wild 21-12(ish) type thing.
Of course it's a long way from now to then, let's see how these freshmen progress during the season & revisit projections during match week.
I am almost certain they never faced each other in an official match. Nolf was always at least 1 weight class above Kemerer in high school. As mentioned earlier, they have trained together (Young Guns) since elementary school and know each other very well. Two very different styles. They are both great kids and represent their programs well. I have watched both closely for a dozen years or so and have had this debate with my son and several of their fellow HS contemporaries.
Regardless of the outcome, I will be happy for the winner and wish the other the best of luck for the next time.
Yeah Zep, lots of history with Joseph/Kemerer. Those 2 have trained together since elementary school as well.
As I reflect on Nolf, Kemerer & Joseph as HS recruits and try to evaluate them from the perspective of a D1 coach, I shake my head and LOL. There is no way I would have imagined Joseph leaping the other 2 and wrestling 165. Add in ASU's 157 Shields (Kemerer's HS teammate at 160) and it is harder to believe.
Plenty of respect for the coaches that have to make those projections.
Here is a video of mean Nolf vs Stanford Sunday. He gave up two takedowns, which is odd. But he definitely took more time to pin the guy than he really needed. A first for me in this match: Stanford guy gets a stalling coming back to the center.
sounds about right and I can't wait to be in CHA for these matches!! can you just imagine CHA going nuts if Kemmerer pulls off the upset. just like the hawks did back in 2013! that was epic!
What a bunch of Homers over here. The only one taking it to Nolf this season is Joe Smith OSU.
I hear ya el dub. My vote and response were made in jest due to responses we got from PSU bubbas on the other poll. I was just having fun, but apparently PSU fans don't know how to have fun. Ironic isn't it?
