Kenneth Johns claims child abduction was justified

Johns touched off an amber alert three months ago when he took his step daughter without authorization.
A few weeks ago I saw that the mother had been arrested for child endangerment. Johns is now using a justification defense that he took the child to protect her.
I've seen the mug shots of both of the adults in this case, and I don't think there is a winner in this. The poor kid is certainly the loser in all of this.
Just at face value would you vote to acquit Johns?

Oh good lord, I hope she finds a good foster family. But knowing just what is here, I think I'd side with the dad. If a step father is willing to break the law to remove a child he's not even related to from danger that would seem a point in his favor.
 
Just at face value? I wouldn't vote at all. Reason below. I only hope the DHS is on top of this one.
