The crowd and the atmosphere will be electric which will help, but in my mind, here are 5 keys to pulling off the upset.

1. Score first - ride the crowd momentum, score first and make a statement.

2. Win the turnover battle

3. Put some pressure on the QB - Unleash AJ on 1st and 2nd down once in a while, send Niemann and Jewell on some blitzes - gotta mix it up and take some chances

4. Win on 3rd down - Be above 40% conversion on offense and hold PSU to below 40% conversion on D

5. Heavy doses of Wadley and Fant - Wadley has proven to like the big stage (see MICH last year) and Fant provides a 1 on 1 mismatch opportunity all night - especially if PSU comes out and loads the box with 8.

I have a good feeling about this one.....Hawks 27 - PSU 23

if Iowa wins it won't be a upset. why? because
1st Iowa under KF is 8-5
2nd in 2008 with a unknown QB and a unknown RB Iowa beat #3 PSU in happy Valley
3rd in 2009 Iowa beat #5 PSU in Kinnick.
4th in 2010 Iowa completed a 3 game sweep with Stanzi has the QB by beating #22 PSU

You forgot one important piece of information. That being, the coach of those PSU teams is no longer coaching (nor walking the Earth, for that matter). He was, to say the least, quite predictable and for sure Ferentz had HIS number. Can't say KF has yet found the same level of success against either O'Brien or Franklin, at this point.

Let's hope for a good, injury-free game and may the best team win!

Love these keys and the prediction. I agree with all. Give me Raider Blitz packages all damn day on 3rd down. Heavy dose of AJE on the early downs. Set the edge on run plays and force 3rd downs. That is what it comes down to IMO, aside from the obvious. We need to create pressure and make McSorley beat us. 24-20 Iowa. Go hawks

so you are saying in 2008 when Iowa had a 1st year starter at QB and a RB that transferred back from Kirkwood Community college beat #3 PSU in Happy Valley was because of Paterno or like in 2009 when Iowa beat #5 PSU in Kinnick to open BT Play was Paterno's fault. you are funny trying to blame Paterno for Iowa's success.

Other than the fact that neither of those games happened where you say they did, yeah I think the former coach was a better scheme match up for us.

Sorry, okinburg, but I can't argee with you there. If you want to say may the best team Saturday night win I'm in. I don't think anyone who follows college football would say Iowa has a better team roster than Penn State...but luckily that doesn't always decide the outcome.

I hope we don't hurt any of your boys though.

6. Discipline and containment from the Iowa defensive ends.
7. Solid open-field tackles by the Iowa LBs and DBs (Taylor really needs to improve in this area)
