Kirk Ferentz, post game kicks us in the nuts again

The book says you go for two there. It's easy to look back questioning it. Honestly, I think we should be more concerned that it was 19-7 with five minutes left in the third then Iowa was outscored 13-0 including three straight three and outs.
**** the book. It was the 2nd qtr, you don’t hunt points that early, especially with this offense. Take the points and save the hunt for the 4th qtr in a close game.

But does the book realize Iowa hasn't successfully converted a 2-point conversion since 1899?

Hey now. We were shut out in the 4th and only scored 6 in the second half. This has nothing to do with going for 2. This has to do with second half play calling and execution. Look, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we are going to have to learn to score. Defense is great, but with the addition of the west coast teams and the push in the B10 to have more potent offenses, 19 points against a....... not top b12 team, is not going to cut it. I hate to say this as well, but with all the years and starting experience our OL is not up to standards. Yeah we may be "deeper" but we are mac level or slightly above at best, Not B10 level on first string much less "deep". We are going to have to look for a new OL coach. The rest of the O I can see it making progress in a very short amount of time.
At this point it doesn’t seem to matter who plays QB for the Hawks. I’m convinced Mahomes would struggle in our offense.

Point is our offense left a lot of points out there and the 2 points does not matter. We are not good offensively, Maybe not as bad as we were, but not good and that is the pill everyone is having a hard time swallowing.......... again........ this year.

No doubt. What in the hell did the staff see in Moulton to jump two seasoned vets on the depth chart. He does nothing as well as KJ and isn’t nearly as good as Williams either. I’m at a loss! Worst depth chart to start season ever with KJ at 3, absolutely laughable.
Williams and KJ were suspended for the first game.

Fvck…the book. It fails constantly!! Chasing points up, in the first 3 quarters, is asinine.

Couldn't get in with 3 tries from 2.
Couldn't get in with 3 tries from 3.
What makes them think they are going to get in with 1 play from 3?

I don’t necessarily hate the idea of going for two. Making it a 14 point game vs 13. At that point in the game, it really shouldn’t even have mattered as Iowa was in full control. Kirk gonna Kirk though and call the dogs off is what pisses me off more than any point after conversion.

The problem going for two is that Iowa is something like 2 for their last 18 (just made that up) 2pt conversion attempts. Most importantly as you pointed out, they were already struggling to move the ball inside the 10 as it is. Not the smartest coaching decision, but not Kirk’s dumbest of the day either. May not even be in his top five today.
