Kiss is done

One of the most overrated bands ever.
My NP has an uncle who’s obsessed with them and thinks they’re the greatest band ever. He’s been to at least 10 of their concerts and once took his 5 yo son to one.

I’m a to each your own type of dude, but their music is garbage IMO. I have a friend that’s been to 50+ shows of theirs, caught guitar pics, drumsticks, would piss his pants so he didn’t have to use the restroom and miss anything, nah, fvck that noise.

Kiss was never supposed to be serious. They were always about putting on a good show and having fun playing loud rock and roll. That's it.

I understand and respect that, it just wasn’t for me. Hell most people don’t like the music I listen to and I respect that too, although those people are knuckle dragging troglodytes.

Untrue. They set the standard for what a concert experience was like. You can not
like their music but they set the gold standard for concerts.

Also, their live albums set the bar for those releases.

I’ll admit I still sort of like KISS. Detroit Rock City is a decent tune. Rock and Roll All Night is tolerable. I was into KISS as a kid but quickly grew out of them. I’ve seen them 2x in concert, which was enough.

I tend to enjoy their songs that weren’t super hits for them. I have Deuce, Black Diamond, Strutter and Shock Me on my liked songs on Spotify.

What are you listening to lately? I need to find a new band or two. I’ve been listening to Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Matt Maeson and Noah Kahan a lot. As long as it’s not country I’m pretty open minded.

I thought they quit wearing the make up or did they revert to cover up the crow's eye and other wrinkles?
They did, and wanted to be taken seriously as musicians. Then the fans realized the music really wasn’t that good and that they were really in it for the theater of it all. Much cooler visual in makeup, costumes, fake blood, blowing fire, etc.

KISS made a huge impact on the music industry. They stuck around longer than they probably should have. Paul Stanley’s voice is shot. Gene Simmons is 74. They had a good run and they are music legends. They may not appeal to everyone but their mark on the music industry is iron clad.
Hey Russ!

Kind of all over the place. Mike Love and the Full Circle, SOJA, Railroad Earth, Stick Figure, the Drovers, Sam Garett, Paul Izak, Widespread, Phish, Grateful Dead, Greensky, Trampled by Turtles, John Butler Trio, Trevor Hall, among many others.

They were done when they all made their solo albums.
Kudos to them for living the dream and banging an epic amount of tail. Wasn’t Simmons married to frequent fapping material Shannon Tweed?

Update: Kiss just announced the concert dates of their Farewell To Farewells tour. Get your tickets now if you want be part of the history of rock’s greatest band.

Actually they sold a ton of records after that. Creatures Of The Night was a kick ass return for them. They actually got better with Eric Singer in the band. Peter Criss was more a Jazz style drummer and singer.

Gene is still married to Shannon and they have two grown kids. His net worth is $400 million.

I saw them last week, I wouldn't say they sounded great but nobody expects them to

They still sounded better than the all female cover band I saw once, Slutter

“They” are done. However, word is that KISS will still tour but with younger replacements and keep the brand going. Sounds awful and I hope that idea, if it comes to fruition, fails miserably.
I heard that from a friend who is really into KISS. I said so they are going to have glorified tribute bands. He said they were going to be multiple versions of the new KISS in multiple countries. He didn't like my comment.

I’d hate it too. I defend KISS but Gene and Paul turned the merchandise thing into something almost bigger than the band. They do about anything for money. You know if they check off younger people carrying on KISS it’s for the money.

I think it’s a bad idea. I’d never see one of those concerts because it would be a kit as much as seeing the real KISS. There are some damn good KISS cover bands who you can see at local casinos and bars for $15.

She is still married to him.

I saw them in '96 with a roommate that loved them. I never listen to their music, but it was a solid night of entertainment. Glad I went.

Having said that, best concerts I've been to would be James Brown (at a church), Pink Floyd and U2 Joshua Tree show.
