Coleman is 184.
Seems to me the only "fact" that can be substantiated is the kid took a visit to Oklahoma and subsequently got his scholarship offer at ISU pulled. Come to think of it, maybe it's all B.S., and since it's not an Iowa recruit, meh.A logical person doesn't do that unless there is some reason to distrust a source. There is no reason to distrust Manatona other then the fact that, what, he's young?
A logical person who does not know either person involved, which almost none of us do, looks at the factual scenario and determines who has more reason to lie.
I think Coleman said he wasn't sure he was going to be 184. I believe both Coleman & Mantanona ideally project at 174.
Paulsens? No need to answer!I disagree with what you are saying about Coleman and will trust who told me this.
Not saying you are right or wrong. The plan was one to go to 174 and one to 184. I don't think it needed to be immediately decided. I have heard both options.I disagree with what you are saying about Coleman and will trust who told me this.

Or Coleman saying he was going 82 this year?
Who cares? Personally, I don't think Coleman is a big hit in college. After watching Clingenpeel go up two weights and wax him he doesn't seem to be the super stud.
His results also say he's not a super stud. That said, he's hardly a slouch.
By all accounts specifically this summer KJ is a stand up dude regardless of how you feel about him as a coach. What coach do you know would be ok with a recruit who just verballed to your school taking visits after the fact? I'm more than sure the brands wouldn't be. As I said and I don't know how some don't see this as a problem if you're not sure about the school then don't commit.
He decommitted he wasn't committed still taking visitsThat is not true at all, when Mejja decommited , Brands told him his offer was still on the table, and they still want him to come on an official visit. It obviously didnt work out but Brands told him to go kick the tires i but we still want you to be a hawkeye... Everyone knows KJ, is pretty thin skinned, maybe the kid wasnt #allin or maybe he was #allout before the #fallout ..

Committed = you plan to attend said schoolWhat is the difference?

It's easy to be magnanimous when you have Lee and Teasdale in your back pocket and you aren't offering a substantial scholarship. Different story when you have a lot of money set aside for a guy and have refrained from recruiting the weight otherwise. I don't fault KJ here, when a guy gives a verbal, the coach should have the expectation that his recruit will not visit other schools and/or entertain other offers.
I would argue that it NOT be easy to be magnanimous after you get Lee and Gavin. The easy thing to do, would be to pull the offer. After he decommits then its super easy to do. But to keep the exact same offer on the table (my bet is it is still on the table)as they made before they had Spencer and Gavin, I would say is quite the opposite of what KJ did
Now, had they pulled his offer the second he decommitted, I dont think that would have surprised anyone. But the fact is they didnt, as a matter of fact it is my understanding they started recruiting him all over again, making sure the kid and his family knew he still had the same offer he agreed to months before we had Spencer and Gavin. And still had him slotted in for an official recruiting trip.
Committed = you plan to attend said school
Decommitted = you no longer plan on attending said school
No commitments are "official"...Obviously,if a kid is taking other recruiting trips, rather he "offically" de-committes,or not , he certainly is not committed. Might not be #allout but certainly not #allin
So it's possible they would have decommitted regardless of the Lee/Teasdale announcement, assuming they didn't get the scholarship offer they anticipated.Justin and his family had no clue what their offer from Iowa was going to be until July. That's the rules. College coaches can call athletes in their junior year after 9/1, but they are not allowed to talk about scholarship dollars until 7/1 of the athlete's senior year.
Both Mejia and Renteria committed to the school without knowing what kind of offer they were going to get from Iowa (that's the risk an athlete takes by making his verbal prior to his senior season). That's why both waited so long after Lee and Teasdale committed to announce they were de-committing. They didn't know what was available until July.

Yeah, too bad it didn't work out. I'm not fully convinced Teasdale will grow into a full up 133lber, but Tony Ramos (would've been 125 if not for McD) made it work so hopefully Teasdale will as well. It's possible, but I think we all know without Lee/Teasdale there would be more money available, and more importantly they would be the best available options at potential need weights. It's not like Iowa strung both along in the process, it was an open book that Iowa was pursuing Lee, but no dollar amounts were exchanged.
Slicone is correct in the fact that Iowa still welcomed Mejia (and I only know Mejia's side of this story, not JRent's so it's possible they tried to work with him too). It's my understanding that they didn't lowball Mejia despite having Lee, but at the end of the day it just wasn't an offer that was going to work for the Mejia family. There is no shame in that.
Or let them we are going to keep recruiting your weight as long as you are taking visits.By all accounts specifically this summer KJ is a stand up dude regardless of how you feel about him as a coach. Are you serious? Your post actually made me laugh so thank you.Yeah, too bad it didn't work out. I'm not fully convinced Teasdale will grow into a full up 133lber, but Tony Ramos (would've been 125 if not for McD) made it work so hopefully Teasdale will as well.

You are most welcomeAre you serious? Your post actually made me laugh so thank you.
Well who says Teasdale HAS to be a 133 lber? Seems to me anything but 125 would probably work just fine, unless it's 165 to HWT., that probably isn't part of "The Plan" (and I hope like hell they have one).I don't know. One of the hardest things in coaching is projecting weights, especially now that they are getting early committals by 16 year olds. I think it is even more true at the lowest weights. On one hand you are praying that the kid doesn't have an unexpected growth spurt, while on the other hand, you are waiting for an expected growth spurt that may never come. Obviously, we all want Teasdale to be fully ready to man 133 ASAP. Still, I see nothing wrong with being skeptical about his size. At that age a ton of it is out of his control!
