Kriener kind of reminds me of Brigg Tubbs

Nope i think it's a legit comparison

compare? Tubbs barely played...never played an entire season...never averaged over 10 min a game..and when he did play it mainly was in mop up..

in 84 career games averaged less than 2 pts per game...if that is what you are comparing Ryan Kriener to then I'm afraid he doesn't have much going for him.

maybe you are comparing ... looks?

Comparing Kriener to Brigg Tubbs would be like comparing legend to Adaryl Allen.

Original poster definitely a troll. Just looking for a reaction. Now if we could just get people to hold off comparing the guy to Frank Kaminsky and Chris Street. I kid. I do prefer that people hold off on comparisons until the player develops, but understand why posters jump to optimistic comparisons.

Nope no troll here. No one who posseses the level of hatred for technology that I do would waste their time trolling message boards. Although, based on the many previous 'Kriener reminds' threads, I assumed that a level of humor would be implied in my post, and thus admittedly went for an obscure comparison with Tubbs.

On the other hand, I do see enough similarity between Kriener- Tubbs to have made the comparison. I think some of their mannerisms and their fluidity of movement are similar (although, if I recall correctly, Tubbs had a knee issue). They had similar builds and I recall Tubbs having some outside touch as well as some back to the basket game like Ryan.

I wanted to stick to a Hawkeye for the comparison. Some of us go back farther than others, but off the top of my head I just don't see that many Hawkeye frontline players that compare that well to Kriener.

Acie Earl, Darryl Moore, Matt Bullard?- No.

Ray Thompson?- No. Rod Thompson?- No. Alex Thompson?- Mayyybe.

Sam Okey, Reggie Evans, Aaron White, Uthoff, Olaseni, Woody, Aaron Fuller, Erick Hansen, Ed Horton, Kurt Looby, Greg Helmers, Kent Hill, Marcelo Gomes, Ryan Bowen, Cyrus Tate, Les Jepsen, James Winters, Tyler Smith, Rodell Davis, Jay Webb, Brad Lohaus, Michael Payne, Greg Stokes, Doug Thomas, Brennan Cougill?- No. Not much similarity there.

Even Settles, Street, Brunner, Worley, Cole, Jaacks, Al Lorenzen, Mark Gannon are streches for me.

So I'm left with some maybes. McCabe, Sean Sonderleiter, Wade Lookingbill, Russ Millard, Brigg Tubbs. To me, they have a little more similarity to Kriener's game.

The Tubbs comparision is mostly a stylistic one and wasn't meant to slight Ryan. I'm not so sure Tubbs would be a scrub in today's college game. It was much stronger in his day. 15 scholarship rosters made for more players that had to be beat out for PT. Some of them were pros that might have left college early in today's game. There are also less big men in today's game, so Brigg might very well have made his mark in today's game.

Anyway, Ryan and Brigg both seemed to have a similar fluidity of movement. Or maybe it was just Brigg's hair, lol, it's been a long time. Regardless, I think it is a better comparison than Kriener- Kevin Love, which many would find as a legit comparison.
