Going to state. You all got your wish to see if he can play. Good game tonight w Webster City, got up so big I think they thought it was over and had to play a little to win

Got this stat from Spirit Lake people. In the post season Kriener has shot 30-36 from the field which is 83.3% and averaged 27.4 pts/game. They said over his last 8 or so games he is averaging close to 30 pts and 12 boards.

In the game tonight his team got up 26-7. With 4:30 remaining in second quarter he picked up second foul and sat the rest of the quarter. Webster City went on 17-1 run without Kriener. In second half Kriener scored 21 of his 31 including all of the crucial freethrows and field goals down the stretch for his team.

He's really been on a tear of late. I feel really good about the front court we are bringing in next year.

I think Cook and Kriener are going to complement each other very well. Kriener is probably the more polished post player at the moment and can move pretty comfortably out to 15' while hitting an occasional 3. Cook will wreak havoc with pure explosive athleticism. Next year will have lots of ups and downs I imagine, but it will be fun seeing these guys develop.

He's really good when facing teams that don't have the size to match-up with him. Not so good when they do. I don't have any expectation of him contributing next year.

Aside from Hull, I'm not sure who he has matched up poorly against. Hull had guys draped all over him, not sure that's his fault. If he has a guy one on one, I like his chances.

That does not sync up well with how well he did in AAU last summer
He must be vastly improved over last season. I watched him play against Hull Western and Le Mars last year. They were the only teams in the Lakes that had any sort of size to try match up with him and they were able to keep him under wraps.

Glad to hear he has improved and is able to play well against similar sized guys. Makes me feel much better about his chances in Iowa City. I still think he takes a redshirt year, though.

I do games for Mc22 and Ryan has really improved this year. The last ten games he and Billy Brown have traded off scoring 30 points and in a couple they scored 70 between the two. Ryan is much further along then Woody as a senior Offensively and can rebound with anyone. Still is a project

You're getting a skinny Woodbury/Cougill. Don't expect much. Might be average as a senior, but that's the best you're going to get.

You're obviously just a troll or you haven't seen him play. He is NOT skinny at 240 pounds and while you never know how he will perform against stepped up competition, he won't be two and three timed like he is now. I expect him to have a pretty nice college career.

Hmm....I smell clown.

There have been a lot of things said about Kriener on this site but skinny is a first. It is generally accepted that the kid has a B1G ready body at 6-9, 240 with a 7' wingspan. If anyone is skinny out of Kriener/Woody/Cougill it's Woody.

Lol. I've seen him play. Not impressed. And your nose isn't functioning properly. The minute ANYONE has something halfway negative to say about Iowaaah, it's either a Cyclone or a Husker getting blamed for it. #Iowaaahinsecurity

The fact that you called him skinny makes me question your acumen as a basketball scout.

Or maybe the reason folks are calling you a troll is because in your stellar 18 post career you constantly refer to Iowa as Iowaaah. Who knows, maybe you're a Drake troll....

just giving my impressions of him, which was no more than an average player in the games I saw him play. I was right when I said Cougill was average at best, time will tell with Kreiner.

I seriously doubt that you've seen him play or you wouldn't refer to him as skinny. Unless, of course, you are a robust 300 pounds plus. Still smells like clown to me.

I have a friend who coaches in the Lakes conference up there in NW Iowa. He said he has seen Kriener play a handful of times and even watched in the AAU games this past summer.

Said he is a very good athlete for his size. Said he can shoot from 15ft and is very aggressive on the boards. He doesn't face too many "big" guys his size, so his numbers might be a little inflated because of that. I know of only one team who has been able to match him w/size and that was Hull. Well Hull is 22-2 and are usually pretty good basketball squad. They were able to handle Kriener when they played. But to be fair my buddy did say they threw double teams at him and forced him out of his game. I am not 100% sure on this, but most people were pegging Melo Trimble the best PG in the nation (he has had some off nights as well). So I assume Kreiner and others will have those at times.

Regardless if this kid is putting up 25+ plus in high school, I am sure Fran and Company will work with him. I doubt any of Iowa's Freshman will lead the team in scoring, rebounds, or assits next year. All they should be counted on is giving the starters a break for 2-3 min a time. Lets face it, were not Duke, Kentucky, OSU, Michigan, MSU, and others who just re-load their starting 5 w/freshman.

No box score but he did have 31 pets in last game, I believe.

Really surprised they are still allowing pets on the court in 2016 tbh

Exactly. It sounds like he's a solid rebounder, reliable out to 15', and is a least a threat to pop a 3 if left unguarded (that's key for a big guy as well to keep the D honest). I don't necessarily see him ever being the guy that leads Iowa in scoring, but rather a solid contributor who improves every year. I don't think Fran is going to be counting on him for 20 minutes a game as a Freshman.
