Some liked him, some didn't. He irritated me with his unrelenting praise for all things ISU and frequent pot shots at Iowa, but on the whole, he entertained me for 15 years. It seems like he screwed Sean over after having him move to the mornings to be with him and now he's alone after dropping the bomb this morning, but maybe there is someone entertaining in the wings waiting to step in. I cannot imagine who that would be.

The opening Marty Tirrell needed.

Call Deace, the band is getting back together.

Bunch of old farts that don’t care about career, just finishing the game they started!!!

Gross. My interest in the show has waned with ISU being good this year in FB and MBB, and Iowa falling off in FB, MBB, and WBB. I just don't care to hear them suck off Pollard, TJ, and Campbell, and pump up Drake MBB, every day. What evs.

Wonder what this means for SoundOff after football games next fall?
He said he was done with that too, I believe. Basically said he watched iheart screw people over for the past few years, and wanted to go out on his own terms. So he kept it a secret from everyone, including his co-host, and made his announcement with about 20 minutes left on his two-hour show this morning.

He say what his plans are?

I haven’t listened to local sports radio in over a decade.

I know he has podcasts he does in addition to his full time real job, and in addition to his radio work on iheart. I think he's just going to do podcast stuff now (in addition to his real job).

What’s his real job?

Did he own a coffee shop in Nebraska years ago? Maybe I am thinking of somebody else.

Travis is a good dude. I wouldn’t call him a friend, but I’ve known Travis since high school and competed against him in sports 35+ years ago. My kids all went or currently go to Tri-Center, where Travis graduated back in 1989. He’s had a nice career in broadcasting, from being the sports anchor on a local news channel, to an extra on the Todd and Tyler radio show in Omaha to the radio gigs with KXNO and WHO. His son is a country artists and Travis and I cross paths once in a while in the music scene through my brother, who is also a musician and has played with Owen Justice.

I’m pretty sure Travis will be fine.

I am realizing I know way more about him than I care to. The coffee shop was a side-endeavor, in addition to his job. It failed. He works for a large commercial construction company in Omaha, I believe as a marketing/business generation guy. I think that has been the case since he started on the air 15 years ago. Can't say the guy is lazy!

Sound Off will be there! Hells Bells, there was radio long Travis! God, I am old enough to remember the rebirth of SoundOff following Iowa’s upset win over Nebraska back in Sept of 1981…it was a complete “fly by the seat of your pants” post-game call in show following a huge upset win … and it went from there.
The studio host was???? A Longtime Iowa radio personality who worked for WHO radio and Iowa Public Broadcasting… he was co-hosted by Larry Cotlar in those early days….it was a helluva show and it gave “Tommy from Des Moines” a new format to meet Iowans!

(????= Mike Newell)
