Refs not calling consistently on both sides. UK definitely gets the benefit. A little taunting going on as well, which I'm fine with as long as it isn't in the face of the opponent like they have been.
Somebody will beat them. Just don't know if it is going to be Cincy.Originally posted by OldTownPepe:
I haven't watched Kentucky BB the entire season. Calipari and Kentucky don't represent college basketball, as far as I'm concerned and I'd love to see Cincinnati knock them out.
:He's never ONCE said his players aren't "college students". Patrick Patterson graduated in 3 seasons, Alex Poythress (recruited by the Duke's and Vandy''s) is about to graduate in 3 seasons. Harrellson, Miller and others have graduated here under Calipari. No, what Calipari tells kids is that he isn't going to hold them back, lie to them, tell them they should stay in school - he meets with their families and supports whatever decision they decide to make.Originally posted by BubsFinn:
In a small way, I respect Calipari for being honest. He openly admits his players are not really college students. He's lucky to be coaching in a conference that has already established the precedent in football.
Why the hell are you on an Iowa message board. How did you get here and care enough to post?Originally posted by ZZBlueComet:

Cal's had 2 Gatorade National Players of the Year come here (Karl Towns and Brandon Knight) - do you know what the criteria for that award is? It's a combination of athletics, academics and good public service works. UK recruits kids that can go to Duke, Vanderbilt and any Big 10 school academically.
My brother played for Iowa (football in the mid-80's), I relocated to Lexington, so I think UK's program up close (I went to school at UK) - trust me, lot's of these UK kids are good students and were recruited by Big 10 and ACC schools (Poythress, Harrison's, Lee, Ulis etc. - all good kids).Originally posted by like-woahh:

You should spend some time on the wrestling board where 23 national titles and 35 big ten titles is not enough.Originally posted by hansenhawk:
I honestly think if I were a Kentucky fan, I would start to root against them at some point.
Ridiculous is ridiculous, I don't care what team you root for.
Maybe if that was Iowa I would feel differently, but I don't know. After a title or 2 I think I would start to root for the underdogs.
