I saw this in USA Today last week and thought it was interesting. The US has made minor moves recently to preposition more hardware in Poland and Finland to send a message to Russia. Sweden publicly announced that they will be increasing their military hardware expenditures and readiness. Now Latvia wants NATO to step up it's support as Russian rumbles around them.
There are two big takeaways for me from this. Russia's economy is in tatters but Putin is still trying to create brush fires around the perimeter of his empire to keep the people's interest away from domestic affairs. And, pay attention to the comments about the UK's military. They are a shell of their former self. Who picks up that slack?
