That is quite the strange post. 99 percent of people are not involved in "policy making" so what is the point? So apparently OK to be racist "be it overt, hidden or otherwise" if not in policy making. That is insane. So by your standard of judging I could drop the N word but as not in policy making you wouldn't care. Wow.
I was being overly general, no question. I guess my point is this thread is silly given that the type of "racism" Ball is being charged with is basically a deflection from real issues and concerns associated with racism.
I suspect if you search "racism" posted by member "Rudolph" on the OT board you'll have a fairly full understanding of where I stand on the issue.
Ok fair enough. I guess I just don't get how his stereotyping of white people is not racist and also his comment on how the white kids will do "their thing" and blacks will do "their own thing." Leave aside his kid is half white and the reason they lost. Whatever.
My opinion regarding Lavar Ball:
#1- He is a racist
#2- He is a narcissist
#3- He is unreserved and unrestrained in his commentary towards others.
#4- He will eventually alienate Lonzo and his family to his own detriment.
#5- He has a personality disorder (see 1,2,3 and 4). Would benefit from psychiatric care.

actually, as i stated before, it appears Lavar's kids are 75% white
Lavar appears 1/2 black, 1/2 white; he had kids with a white woman; that makes his kids 1/4 black, 3/4 white
So in essence Lavar was criticizing HIS OWN WHITE CHILD

Yes it is racist. Yes it's obnoxiously stupid. Yes there's a double standard. BUT you don't get it. It's not racism PER SE that's the problem in America. It's racism + power aka white privilege that's the problem.
The problem is that there are people that believe this.

Alot of black friends of mine don't care about the N word but there's always one guy that does and starts a Fuss and in turn the other blacks that keep in mind don't care feel they have to side the black creating a Fuss in turn starting a riot..
Stereotyping is ignorant, stereotyping based on race, extra-ignorant, and arguably racist.
White privilege has spoken. Everybody else? STFU.
I'm not a victim. I grew up and have remained privileged as hell. I choose not to be ignorant or dismissive of others circumstances, especially when some of their circumstances are to a great extent beyond their control (and/or due to control exerted by another body or group).
My experiences are fairly unique. I've witnessed/experienced, at several stages and places in my life, real racism, both anecdotal and systemic.

Interesting discussion going on. I would urge people who baulk at the notion of systemic racism and white privilege to take the time to research what it means.
If like me, you know what systemic racism means, and that yes, the modern white male is the top of the heap when it comes to advantages. But you, like me, probably also bristle at the notion that you are privileged. Anything you achieved, nobody was helping you, and all that.
The first thing we need to know, is we have no shame or guilt over white privilege. We didn't cause it ourselves and many of us don't seek to perpetuate it.
So, we recognize it exists, we don't need to blame ourselves, but we do what we can to not cause it.
I had a lot of trouble with this because there are many privileges out there. The first one recognized was economic privilege. Now just about any advantage is called a privilege and some intersect with others until if you start adding things up you start to wonder who really has it better than others? Would you be better off black, or paralyzed from the waste down?
And the answer, when it comes down to it, is it's better not to be both. And, we're right back to what white privilege means.
I recently had an Email discussion with the lady who coined the term in the first place. (Like I said, I had trouble accepting having these privileges and was looking for an official pass on the whole notion. Everybody has white privilege but me!
That was the plan. ) Didn't turn out so good. She very kindly and carefully explained what I'm trying to say, better than I can I'm sure. And now I get it. I don't feel like I need a pass anymore, as I have nothing to be ashamed about. But I do recognize there is Shinola and there is s#!t, and it doesn't get passed out in equal measure.

Its not that people should make a big deal out of Lavar Ball saying stupid things, even though it is clearly racists. The problem is that plenty of people would make a bid deal of some idiot white guy saying similarly stupid things. Because it fits an agenda to make things appear different what the norm actually is.

Heard a couple of talking heads from ESPN taking George to task for his comments. Generally it appears it is being dismissed as the obvious rantings of a Nike Exec about small timers possibly chipping away some of their profits.
When one of his kids makes the NBA he will get fouled hard and that person will say what is your daddy going to do?
White privilege? To pay taxes to feed everyone and get constantly bitched at.
