This is one of the most confusing times of the year...when to put down grub control treatment. I've always heard a good rule of thumb is 4th of July weekend but there are different thoughts on this (I guess).

What sayeth the experts on HROT? Thanks in advance.

Rainfall & soil moisture an are critical factors affecting the extent of grub damage. Adequate moisture favors beetle activity and grub development. Treatments need to be done at the beetle state, one they develop to the white grub you have less success of killing them. If your seeing discoloration in your lawn you should treat them. Ideally by August 1st is what's recommended. With the amount of rain we've had in Iowa I would strongly consider treating the next couple of weeks, especially if you've had issues in the past.
