Legit/real or not, WH tweet leaks are fantastic entertainment...

How much damage can they do in five weeks?

We are both right. They ignore them first, but then when it is pointed out in a way they can't ignore, they blame them.

And actually, before they are born, most of the GOP pretends to care about them; once they are born ....

I've always stated: in states that restrict abortions, track the mothers and children, and residents of those states need to ante up the tax revenues for their support.

If someone is denied an abortion, then the state they are from "owns" the care for them, in perpetuity. Federal government gets to collect that money, as needed. Abortions are far cheaper than 18 years of care and welfare, so if it is that important to them, they can front the funds for it. Wherever those children move, the welfare payments are tagged and come straight out of the state of origin.

You don't want that tax burden on your state? Then you offer free and accessible 1st/2nd trimester abortions. And you prosecute protestors that get within 1000 ft of any clinic trying to prevent access and intimidate people. Make 'em punitive penalties for that harassment.

See, this is where my wife and I diverge from many Evangelicals. We both agree on hating the concept of abortion. However, trying to ban it is the exact wrong approach. You want to reduce/eliminate it, you have to address ALL of the factors with it. Provide either greatly reduced cost or free health care, provide free/reduced cost birth control (not just condoms, all birth control), provide free/reduced cost counseling, better sexual education...particularly for the males (this shouldn't just be a female issue since there are two people involved). Basically, take away the biggest part of the reason for it...unwanted pregnancies, by giving people better options or better access to the things that help them prevent unwanted pregnancies. (And note, the prior list isn't all inclusive, there are definitely other things involved here, including economic factors that I didn't mention)

The fact that American Evangelical Christians don't want to do any of that should be confirmation for everyone, including themselves, that they aren't interested in reducing abortions, they are interesting in controlling people. I'll paraphrase Clinton in saying that they should be safe, free and extremely rare.
