It seems like this guy is often <this close> to ripping off a long run but gets tripped/ankle tacked for about a 5-yd gain. With as strong as the guy reportedly is, I don't get it. Is this just who he is right now or am I missing something in my analysis?

Yep...not near 100%.

Yeah I don't get people ripping him. He looked very good against Illinois Statea and Iowa State before the injury. He's been healthy enough to play the last 2 weeks but just missing the little extra to be what he can be. With each week past the injury he should get better.

Still havent seen his great 40 time showing up in game speed...and gets tripped up too easily...was expecting him to be the guy but now looks like Canzeri...

He does not seem to have great explosiveness and burst. Does seem to go down easy for his size. Hopefully it is just because he is hurt , if not I don't see him as an effective #1 go to guy.

He looked good against Illinois St. I just hope this isn't going to be a lingering injury that bothers him all year because he hasn't looked nearly as good since.

When guys are hurt or just coming off of injury - they just don't play like they do when they're healthy, particularly when they're young. When a player doesn't "feel like themselves" ... then they likely won't play like it either. I imagine that many of us remember Jermelle Lewis and how impressive he was capable of playing. What he did against Michigan in 2002 will forever be seared in my memory.

However, if you observe his play in either of the subsequent seasons ... when he was coming off injuries ... his play in either '03 or '04 was a shadow of what it was back in '02. Admittedly, he wasn't running behind the same quality lines the latter two years ... but he simply didn't have the same explosiveness or "slashing" ability that he had in '02.

Wadley is our most gifted, natural rb that we have. There are some obvious drawbacks, hopefully he will overcome them.

Yeah, he just needs to get healthy. Hasn't had the same explosion since he hurt that ankle at ISU. I would have liked to see him rest last week and be ready for Wisky but the coaches wanted to get him in there.

My bet is that HE wanted to get back in there. Competitors WANT to compete. Furthermore, you also don't want your talent to get "rusty." Thus, I'm sure that the coaches were willing to let him get reps almost for that reason alone. Besides, you never know how a guy is really going to respond until they get live reps. It's not like they were letting Daniels get hit in practice. Obviously, they were seeing him make cuts more easily. However, we'll see how he fares through the rest of the season.

Daniels still doesn't look fully healthy but looked better than last week. Apparently he also was sick with some kind of virus this week as well.
