Barta was awful. Between the lawsuits and rampant Nepotism, Iowa became the two sport's coaches private Fiefdoms.
Fran got a secret extension from Barta the year he was coming off 4-14 B1G record---there was a claim that Pittsburgh had expressed interest in talking to Fran's agent--that's all it took to freak Barta. Same with the last extension that locked us into 2028 with guaranteed money--it wasn't necessary.
