We should all sign a petition to get Fran to have an open practice before a football game. Seriously though surprised they don't do this just to create some buzz two months out from the season opener. Really curious for some news. It's like for 6 months college basketball just goes dark and then boom the season starts. No summer league. No shirts v skins.

Still say they need to bring back the black and gold intrasquad game. Have the proceeds go to the U of I Children's Hospital. Without the PTL I do believe this game would draw a decent crowd.
Start a Facebook group. It's working for storming area 51, no reason it shouldn't work at Iowa.

I always enjoyed watching.
There was so much B1G hype going around before the NBA Draft deadline and then there was a mass exodus of players from Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska that kind of killed the strength and overall depth of the league. Michigan and Iowa went from top 25 teams to dropping out and Minnesota went from being fringe top 25 to being a bubble team. So much mystery around many B1G teams especially Iowa it would be awesome to get some insight and buildup before the season kicks off.
Always went to carver pre fball game. However, there would be 5,000 tailgaters in the dental school parking lot, but only 25 of us inside watching shirts & skins. No beer & 45 steps to the playing floor.
Never attended myself but part of reason they stopped was low attendance and interest Not sure there would be more interest now and Fran likes to have them in practice facility
Reason's they stopped are more to do with changes to rules allowing for practice time, and having the new Practice Facility to hold said closed door practices.
I attended every one and you are right, attendance dwindled. But that was Lickliter’s fault I think. Fran has righted that ship. Without PTL I think people would be interested in coming....especially if there was a charity tie in.
I agree with you here. No PTL means Zero basketball coverage all summer long... The interest would be there. Especially when you can put the game on YouTube or FB live.
Part of the problem with Shirt vs Skins was it wasn't overly organized. It has to be setup by the players, essentially. No coaching staff can be involved (unless there have been some rule changes). Having a charity involved could help with that. More organization.
Maybe if the fans stop bitching during the season he will appease us during the offseason
For football half the fanbase or more follows the team year round thanks to Spring ball and Summer practices. For basketball it's like 90% of the fanbase goes away. Basketball needs more offseason exposure.
