They constructed an outstanding game plan. Pound it down low and pound it down low some more against a suspect and thin MD bigs on the defensive side, kick it inside and outside depending what the defense gave them, crisp ball movement, etc on the offensive side.

More importantly; pack the defense down, play lots of zone, let MD (especially Trimble) beat you outside.

Fran, Kirk, Sherman, and Andrew did good tonight! No doubt...

Agree. I think Fran and the assistants have done a really good job of game planning, since the B1G started and they had some time to figure out what they had in the new guys. We were not a good team for most of the non-B1G schedule, but the kids have really come together. With a little more luck and a couple of calls, we could easily be 10-6 and in the hunt for the dance. While posters are eating crow about the Mary Land game, they might want to also give Fran a shout out;)

I like to rip on Fran's rotation (have for several years now). This year I'm throwing in the towel because I have no friggin clue. Literally have 12 guys that should play 10-15 mins a game at least.

I like how he's mixing Williams, and Uhl in. Especially when we have a lead. IMO, they are our 2 best defenders (Wagner and Kriener are right there too). I'd like to see us post up with Williams when he is in the game, he's on excellent finisher and the rim and that's where his shot attempts need to be coming from.

Not enough good things to say about Baer. Perfect bench guy to come in and give us a lift.

Tyler Cook is figuring it out. He's good, he knows he's good, and he's got that mean streak. Absolute beast on the block. He's going to develop into a 1st team all B1G guy, I'm sure of it.

I could go on all day, and Bohannon just made another 3.

I also like how they are really having our players pushing the pace. It was pretty obvious our team had the fresher legs. Any team only playing 7 or 8 is going to struggle keeping up this late in the season (against us).

I think Fran and the coaches are good at game-planning, practice etc. In other words, Iowa is mostly prepared well under him.

But I also think that they are slow to react when the game plan ain't working or if they have to go to something different on the fly.

Yeah, you can change a defense etc to play better, throw the press out there - that kind of thing to change tempo. But what I have noticed over the years is - and maybe I just don't notice it - but I don't see Fran get a dry erase board out much, diagramming plays in game. Like it's "we have the plays we run, we practice the hell out of them, we aren't straying from that ever" kind of thing.

Now...maybe that's the way basketball is going nowadays, or maybe I don't notice it when I should. I just don't recall seeing it ever with him.

Love this team. Love me some Fran. Always have, always will. Meh, I snarl to the naysayer.

Fran's aggressive behavior is well calculated IMHO. He was overly aggressive his first couple of years on purpose, for the refs. Smart move for the long haul. And our guy Fran will be here for the long haul.

One thing about our guy, is that his players greatly respect him. He is a tough competitor, and a player's coach. Fran has not had one player talk negatively about him in his coaching career. That says something - Respect. Got to love that.

I love that Fran is able to inspire in his players such a team mentality. Players are happy to accept whatever role the game dictates and support each other when players get hot or have an off night. What makes this team so great is that players like Bohannon and Jok draw the defense to them and then look for the pass to the open player for the easy bucket.Bohannon's dish to Moss was a perfect example and you could see the enjoyment in Moss's eyes when he got the easy bucket.
