There is some reason for optimism-- Cant say a lot more right now but largely because of communications,emails and some strong contacts from this forum we have the attention of the Admin. That in itself is really good news because quite simply we have not had it in the past. We will see where it takes us.
Facilities-- Cooperation with HWC was considered to be off the table as of a couple weeks ago ( my perception) or at least way down the road .
I'm not ready to say they are on the table-- but there have been some efforts to get us a seat at the table--that is a start and my reason for some optimism.

No doubt. The momentum is great, and it needs to continue all the way through planning of the new facility.

Then, we need to settle into a "new normal" where Hawk fans are signed up for recurring donations to the HWC, literally by the thousands. We need to sustain that kind of financial support for the HWC for multiple reasons: 1) The HWC is currently being out-spent by other major clubs by about a factor of 4 -- let that sink in for a second; 2) increased funding for the HWC (by at least a factor of 4, which is entirely feasible with our fan support) will enable the staff to bring in more first-rate athletes who will contend for World and Olympic medals; 3) the increased funding will free up our guys to focus on what they do best rather than continually raising money; 4) the top-notch athletes strengthen the room more and provide outstanding workout partners up and down the lineup, helping our U of I guys reach their potential; and 5) all of this makes recruiting snowball, leading to a cycle of success at the undergrad and senior levels.

I have found that in fundraising, the use of ALL CAPS and many, many exclamation points will work best.

And 24Hawkeye, I really wish my waist side would fall (not to mention the waist front)

Actually, if you're an old fart like me and remember the original WOB on HR (I think this was actually back when the site was called "SuperHawkeye.com"), it stood for "want of bees". Long story!
