I have read through that very long thread and I dont see any one posting or retweeting evidence.

So if you have direct evidence or an indictment or an investigation of named iowa athletes to share, please share it here?

You would think so and if this is not true about Bruce then the poster who started this rumor on this site needs to be tightly regulated or worse

I have no idea of whether or not the story is true.

But if it’s really a federal investigation, I think getting an answer/details either way any time soon is wishful thinking. They’ll take many months building an airtight case before they say anything.

There is a University document stating there is an investigation but does not mention gambling or point shaving.

Nor does it name which sports are involved. Baseball is in season and players have been held out of recent games.
These are facts.

Wouldn’t that be a story the media would pick up pretty quickly? 🤷‍♂️
Herky, seriously? The "media" just make up shit. Obviously there's a problem with guys on the baseball team but no facts link any football player.

All the MSM do is repeat press releases (at best) or publish insane and false rumors they pick up from political and commercial sources. I wonder if Dan Rather has found Dubya's national guard records yet?

The baseball thing not only has legs it has fast twitch running legs… I think the football is just somebody throwing darts at the board!

The reason the baseball came out is because players had to be held out. In this case the football player in question is no longer even at the school so the athletic department may have not felt it needed to disclose that information. In either case there is still nothing substantive of the football player in question doing anything. I still think it was an irresponsible post. He did edit the original post to claim as a rumor, but even still think it could have been handled different such as notifying a site administrator and letting them investigate. The liability is potentially on him. I know I wouldn't want to be that person.

It's always "sources tell XYZ news"................................ like because XYZ news is in the mix the sources are instantly credible. I don't think so.

What a joke. Nothing could undermine the integrity of these sports like the free for all the ncaa has let NIL and transfers become but this is supposed to be some huge deal? Riiiiight. Unless they prove they were gambling in games they were participating in I couldn't care less

Well you witnessed last year's offense. That surely warrants a federal investigation.

The UI statement says 26 current student athletes. Two points…

1) A football, basketball player, or a wrestler could have finished their eligibility in 2022 (football) or 2023 (basketball, wrestling), but still be a current student athlete since the second semester is still in session (this is finals week)

2) An athlete who has already transferred from Iowa to another institution could still be a current student athlete, just no longer at Iowa

Not sure I would be so harsh,.. In today's environment practically anyone with a dick and a smartphone has at least dabbled with legal online gambling to some degree...

You can have a compassionate heart and show empathy to people, and still acknowledge. It was exceptionally stupid!

I play fantasy football, but I have never ever played it for money and I haven’t bet on Sports in at least 25 years And I never played poker, some blackjack, but I haven’t been in a casino in probably 25 years either!

And if I was 20 years old and on an athletic scholarship, knowing full well the rules. Yes that would make me pretty damn dumb! Hopefully I’d get a second chance and people would show me mercy but that doesn’t change the fact, it’s dumb!!

You know they have all been told what the rules were, they ignored them. The problem is some of them are going to face very stiff consequences.

Yeah, it's easier than seeing my grandfather, I'm sure, but not even sufficiently smart to have some frat brother as the strawman? That's junior high shit.

Especially since the punishment is necessarily so disproportionate to the seeming offense.
