Plenty to b*** and moan about. Turnovers, bad plays in secondary... Etc

But let's celebrate the awesomeness of this play!!! Loved it and was a PERFECT time and field position to call it.

MN had just used a TO one play before, so I think they we're hesitant to burn another one here.

Plus I bet MN thought we were just lining up funny, then would get into FG position.

Just awesome!

So if Minny had shifted their alignment would we have just taken delay of game and kicked the FG?

That was awesome. One of the few times in the last 20 years when I wanted Ferentz to go more conservative and I was wrong

Sorry, made the mistakes of listening to the announcers. Punter was in. Is he our normal FG holder?

Even better 5-6 defenders were worried about our long snapper, WR out wide, kicker and punter?

Same here. Couldn’t read the number and they said Stanley was in at first.

The announcer and the editing booth both screwed up on that play. I think IA "rushed" the field goal unit onto the field so that they could quickly shift the linemen to the right. As the OP stated Minny had just burned a time out on the previous play.

And Jones just lays the wood... Hope the B1G overturns the call.
The sheer violence that Jones delivered that hit with caused that call. Don't believe that was targeting at all, and even the studio's rules expert conceded that by definition that should not have been called targeting. The crap part is, that now we won't have Hockaday at all, or Jones for the first half against Indiana next week. Christian Welch, come on down.

And that left handed snap across your body... Not and easy thing to do with accuracy!

Yeah he was pretty slow with that pitch too... if one Minnesota player was a little more alert, that coulda been a TD the other way.

As it is... the legend of Ferentz 3.0 and his exotics begins! ;)

Snapper, WR, QB, K.

4 Hawks on the left. Draw 5 to 6 defenders from MN
Really a well designed play given the defenders it drew over to the ball. Hock lining up off of the LOS. Our blockers outnumbered defenders and Brinks and the rest executed blocks very well to make the play a success. Nice work!

Have a lot of experience with it....there are a ton of options. Not sure if Iowa has options at the snap...but if there are 5 or more defenders away from the scrum you direct snap it to the Wingback and power it in. Strictly go where they aren't football

This was a great play....but the play immediately before it (incomplete fade to Hock) is a textbook example of how hamstrung the offense is with a QB who either has been instructed or otherwise is just individually utterly opposed to tucking the ball and running.

The right side guard/tackle gap opened up wider than Lois Feldman in a handicapped stall, and if Stanley had even noticed it (as usual he was locked in a love trance with the primary receiver), he certainly could have tucked and ran and probably scored. But he didn't. Instead he essentially threw the ball away and then the play above ensued.

One of the biggest detriments to our offense is the COMPLETE lack of any running threat whatsoever from the quarterback position. Doodle's not suggesting he should run a lot, or even that there should be a set of designed QB running plays added to the playbook. But the occasional run would benefit this O immensely, and that play was a prime opportunity to do so.

Where, oh where, was that play vs. Wisconsin? Run that instead of the QB sneak coming out of the review timeout, and undefeated Iowa is in control of the West. It was a brilliant play, the kind of thing I've called for over and over, but again, why not use it in the biggest game of the year? I loved it, but it came a game too late....

His scramble on the touchdown to ISM was encouraging. No?

Iowa should just play a 5 - 2 defense in first half next week with Epenesa as 5th down lineman and whichever 2 linebackers are most healthy.

Indiana is a throwing team, so the Hawks will use a nickel type defense with safeties helping the LBs. Iowa will be just fine.
