No, they're just better in the south. He failed to adopt his dad's approach- money and hookers
Unless little P wins 20 games this year, he is done. The troops are getting restless and there is a new AD in town.
Same goes for the Illinois coach
I don't think it takes 20 wins, but surely there has to be a marked improvement.
Maybe
I hope he stays for another 10 years. He is a moron.
The gophers cannot be happy with Ricky Pitino as local recruit decides to go to Marquette and spurn the offers from Mn. Another Mn recruit going to Dayton. Little P must not have the recruiting prowess of his well connected papa.
Pitino just secured a commitment from Isaiah Washington, the #14 PG in the country.

That is on top of bringing in the 5th ranked recruiting class in the Big Ten.

Don't care, this is a Hawkeye board

It is, but it is the off season for basketball so I think talking about an opponent in the same conference is fair game. You certainly didn't have to read the thread if you don't care. Somehow you did open the thread and commented on it so it seems like you do care at least a little.Don't care, this is a Hawkeye board

Doesn't this reality bear on recruiting?Seems stupid to me for the media to criticize his recruiting if the out of state players he signs are ranked better or the same as the in-state kids not named Trent. He did land the highest ranked Minnesota kids each of the last two years.
His team's on-the-court performance is where the criticism should be targeted. Barring another train wreck season, I bet he gets the year after this also. His buyout is still pretty big after this season and nearly everyone on the roster returns....assuming no key players transfer.
I'm sure it does. And I'm really not surprised none of the local kids picked the Gophers. How could you live in Minnesota and not know how bad the team was or hear about the suspensions all season long? Out-of-state kids weren't subject to that.Doesn't this reality bear on recruiting?
I don't like backing anything Minnesota does, but they did just get a commitment from the 62nd ranked player in the country...
Coffey is right in MN's back yard. Some of those kids will go to the local school regardless of the state of the program. See Matt Gatens during the last Lick years. And 4 star Amir Coffey in the '16 class that the top programs wanted. They aren't picking up leftovers.

If 'Lil P survives the next couple of years, he'll have Coffey to thank for it. Not only does the 4* stay home with the troubled program. You've got to believe he had something to do with Washington coming there too. It wasn't just early PT, but a 4* wing to pass to.yeah, I get that but it's not my point. My point is they are getting some good players.
Minnesota missed on both theo John and mcKinley Wright. Pitino wanted them both And so did all the locals. If you're talking about McKinley Wright, I heard Minnesota passed on him (as did Iowa State).
They missed on John and Sims, they did not miss on Wright. He accepted a commitment from a different, higher rated PG, which eliminated the possibility of a commitment from WrightMinnesota missed on both theo John and mcKinley Wright. Pitino wanted them both And so did all the locals.
You better get ahold of the Mpls Star Tribune then and set the record straight. They missed on John and Sims, they did not miss on Wright. He accepted a commitment from a different, higher rated PG, which eliminated the possibility of a commitment from Wright
The article has it right..."Recruiting analysts said Pitino did the right thing by taking the better player in Washington. Wright had a chance to make a commitment earlier but didn’t."You better get ahold of the Mpls Star Tribune then and set the record straight.

I thought they never offered? They did pass on Wright.Didn't see it mentioned, but the Gophers also missed out on another kid right in their backyard - PG/SG Brad Davison from Maple Grove, who is headed to Wisconsin.
