Disappointing but at least he decided early. We have plenty of time to find a good fit. I didn't get a sense that he was too enamored with the Hawks.

MSU always gets good WR's in state, so maybe that is what he was looking for.

Can't blame anyone for going to Michigan State - they have a good thing going and have had some success putting QB's in the league (Hoyer, Cousins, and Cook should be drafted this year).

It will be interesting to see when/if Lombardi sees the field at MSU. They have two four-star QB's committed in their past two classes, so there will be some quality competition. There would have been quality competition at Iowa as well, as I think many are bullish on Nathan Stanley from the 2016 class, and it seems as though Ryan Boyle and Drew Cook have looked good thus far coming from the 2015 class.

As Gunner said, MSU often has good WR's, and it sounds like Andre Rison's son helped sway Lombardi to MSU.

I saw his tape and it left me unimpressed if his plan is to stay at QB. Didnt look like he had a great arm or was overly quick/fast. Kid looks strong but I dont see QB being his best fit. Reminded me of a less athletic AJ Derby

MSU might find a QB they like better and tell Rocky its been real but we are moving on with the other guy. I would guess the Hawks will stay after him. It is a long time until signing day and lots of things can happen. Best of luck to Rocky however it ends up.

Does anyone know who our top target at QB is right now?

I have to think objectively. If I'm a stud high school QB, Iowa would not be real appealing to me. We have FIVE qbs on the roster right now (most teams do not carry that many), we do not throw the ball down the field and play a very conservative offense, we do not put any QBs into the pros, and we have a coach who tends to stick with less talented upperclassmen. If that's what I saw at Iowa, and I aspired to be an NFL QB, I would look to most of the other Big 10 schools first.

Now if I were a TE or OL, it's another story.

If by stacked you mean three unproven backups with no game experience and in the case of two, no competing P5 offers out of high school and entering their redshirt freshman season, then I guess your statement is true.
At least four of them will be future Hall of Famers too. Maybe even 5...

At least 75% of what you said was factual.................

I always knew there was a reason people didn't like Valley....

IowaLaw,

Here you go again with no facts. Most schools have at least one QB from each class. I still think Cook becomes a TE. You do know that we had over 3,000 yards in passing offense last year, ranking 4th in the conference. How can you say Kirk sticks with less talented upper class men? He moved Jake out and C.J. in. He moved another Jake out and Stanzi in. Stanzi made it to the pros and I'm sure C.J. will also. Iowa has produced some pretty good QB's.
