Looked like Tony didn't like sitting

I called it. I said Tony plays better with a chip on his shoulder and it might benefit him coming in as the sixth man. (I know he started, but my comment stands)

Brought it from the start.
The eye of the Tony.

Boy, if we get something somewhat close to this every game....

He really stepped up today, playing 37 minutes (2nd only to Connor, who played all 40).

What's kinda interesting is that Tony did not attempt a 3 today.

10-13 from the field

2-3 FTs

22 points
4 rebounds (1 offensive)
3 assists
2 blocks
1 steal

The only "bad" thing was he had 3 of Iowa's 9 turnovers

The first 1/2 dozen game Perkins was absolutely our 2nd best player. Seems he may have been slowed by some type of injury (?).
Sandfort for Ulis and you’re looking at 5 very good D1 players.
Time will tell
GO HAWKS!

Ulis is the best option at pg and best defender of the guards.

As good as Tony played he had 3 basically unforced TOs, he's not a pg.

It's a good sign that 2 players that were basically benched against Michigan responded like this.
Fran said in his post-game interview that he told Perkins and Ulis that they were his starters. He went with Dix and Sandfort against Michigan because they had the hot hand. He also felt they would play well against Maryland because Maryland spreads out on defense and the lane would be open for them to drive.

Looks like he played that correctly.

Fran has been making the right calls lately IMO. I think Perkins' playing better was just a matter of time, and it is critical for success going forward. His funk and Patrick's leave might have been a blessing long term, because it gave Dix an opportunity to show that he is ready to contribute.

It was kinda funny they try and wrap up compliment his play and he immediately made a bad play both times. In general great game for him, loved it.

Glad to see Tony play well. I’m a little worried that Maryland was just a good matchup for him. But also hopeful that emergence of Dix and (re)emergence of Sandfort reduces the reliance on Tony to both score and run the team, sort of freeing him up to just go out and play, be opportunistic, attack — playing off others and the space they (specifically Dix and Sandfort) provide.

Tony will have trouble vs teams with great rim protectors. Maryland doesn't have that and he exploited them.

Maryland likes to extend their defense to disrupt the offense and create turnovers,.. This tends to open the floor for a guy like Tony..

Good to see that big smile on Tony in his postgame interview with B Butch.
We need a happy Tony!
Loved how Tony said in the postgame that Aaron and Josh were teasing him about not dunking so he threw that one down! Good group of guys!
