Now that Noah Fant has committed, it's pretty amazing to look back at the first Hawkeye Tailgater this year and the success rate that Iowa had in landing the recruits that attended.
Back Row: Kirk Ferentz, Cole Banwart, Shaun Beyer, Romeo McKnight, T.J. Hockenson, Nick Niemann
Midde Row: Frank Darby, Brandon Simon, Toren Young, Andrew Clair, Spencer Williams, Noah Fant
Front Row: Jackson Terry, A.J. Taylor, Devonte Young, Amani Hooker, and Max Wariboko
---
The only 2016 recruit that Iowa offered and didn't get was RB A.J. Taylor, but Iowa landed RB Toks Akinribade to go along with Toren Young anyway.
CB Max Wariboko tried to commit to Iowa, but was turned down. He's still out there if they ever decide to revisit things.
TE Shaun Beyer would commit if offered, but it appears Iowa is full at his position, so he's headed to NDSU.
P/K Jackson Terry is a punter that Iowa has offered a preferred walk-on spot to and the Hawkeyes lead right now.
RB Andrew Clair is a 2017 prospect that won't decide until next year probably.
---
Other than that, the rest of the group is now all committed to the Hawkeyes.
Prior to that weekend, which was June 19-21, Iowa already had landed pledges from:
Toren Young - January 25
Spencer Williams - June 8
Cole Banwart - June 9
Amani Hooker - June 16
---
Then, at the Hawkeye Tailgater and right afterwards, you had commitments from:
Nick Niemann - June 19
T.J. Hockenson - June 19
Amani Jones (not pictured, but attended one day of the Tailgater) - June 20
Devonte Young - June 21
Frank Darby - June 22
Brandon Simon - June 26
Romeo McKnight - June 29
---
Then, two months later:
Noah Fant - August 28
---
That's quite a success rate for the kids they were able to get on campus that weekend.
As is often the case, sometimes that's half (or more) of the battle.
