Looking forward to getting these 2 on campus....

See my other post.

I don’t think he’s ready, but he’s the one deciding not me.
Fine, but your post said 50% chance he goes. Joe is a smart kid, do you really think as of right now he thinks he's playing in the league next season?

Let's support JW regardless of what happens today or in the future. Next game is an important game.
I am in no way dissing on Joe W. I think he has and will do great things at Iowa and I'm thrilled he is a Hawk. My post was in answer to posters saying he would be considering leaving for the NBA, to their COMMENTS not about his struggles.

Kreiner will be gone. Bakari has used four years of eligibility so he's gone, too. Pemsl will probably retire.

Joe T.

CJF
Weiskamp
PMac
CMac
Nunge
Garza
Till
Ulis
Perkins
Murray #1
Murray #2
OG

Will Till still be on scholarship next year or was it a one-year deal because Iowa had one more to give this year? I can't see Weiskamp leaving early as a sophomore. Maybe after his junior year if he gets his degree early. Garza? Next year's team is scary good with him returning, but without him there's not one proven starter at the 4 or 5. Ideally, he'd come back and Nunge and OG could learn to play a full season without the pressure being on them. The team would still be decent without Garza, but they'd struggle in the B10 without him because of the lack of experience and depth up front. How would they keep opponents off the glass???

A lot of question marks about next year right now.

Starters:
G Bohannon
G Fredrick
G Wieskamp
G CMac
C Garza

Short Bench:
Toussaint
PMac (w/o)
Pemsl
Nunge

Deep Bench:
Ogundele
KeMurray
KrMurray
Ash (w/o)

Redshirt: Uhlis, Perkins
Not counting Ash, that's 14 scholarship players. Who won't be on scholarship?

I meant Till not Ash. I count 13. Till moving to a walk-on and one of the McCaffrey's moving to a walk-on as well

Here's my 2 cents on next years roster....
Till will go back to being a walk on or move on.
Pemsl could move on after graduating, if he does decide to return, Fran could put Connor back to walk-on status.
PMac is the unknown, does he find the right medical concoction to allow him to overcome a possible "bipolar disorder", if you had listened to Connor on HawkeyeNation podcast he talked of Patrick having good days, bad days, just a guess, no need to pile on, it's just a guess. Video I've seen of him, he appears OK.
Connor could play for 1 more year and then concentrate entirely on his baseball ambitions his senior year.
Garza comes back, Weezes comes back, Bohannan comes back, Fredrick, Nunge, Toussaint, continue to improve that's 8 returning veterans.
The Murray twins will be over 20 and a half years old by the time next season starts so I highly doubt that either will be redshirted.
Ogundele could provide additional support behind Garza and Nunge while learning all he can from both players.
That leaves the question of how Fran will utilize Perkins and Ulis, with Bohannan, Connor, Fredrick, Toussaint, & Weezie returning, I could see 1 or both redshirting but since Perkins is the taller player, I'd redshirt Ulis. This is all hypothetical as there's still 8 more months to go before the start of practice next fall, but by the summer workout all the questions should be answered.

Garza just doesn't fit the NBA mold, it's sad, but true. Dude is a phenomenal college player, questionable/bench NBA player. If he does leave early, good for him, he deserves it, but I'm not sure he'll even get drafted. Again, comparing him to Kaminsky is very fair, and Kaminsky has started 23 games in his career, after being drafted 9th overall. It took him 2 years to be really respected on draft boards though, and I'm pretty sure Luka won't be drafted as a 1st round pick. Neither him and Joe are on any draft boards at this point, and we only have 3 regular season games left. I'd seriously be shocked if either left.

By all account Patrick is playing next year, it's kind of weird we have fans thinking he won't.

If we need a scholly, it will definitely come from Pemsl or Connor.

BiPolar? Huh?

Everything I've heard is that the medicine he has to take for not having a thyroid makes him sick and caused him to lose weight this year on top of everything else.

I hope Ogundele plays backup minutes to Luka. We will need him the following year. It's better to get that experience on the court rather than practice
I think he would be better off by having a year to get in shape and learn the defense/offense. He is relatively new to basketball so there will be a lot more teaching than usual. I look back to other players Iowa have had to either didn't redshirt or did and gained from it. The latter group seems to do much better. Nunge really needs the time on the floor as HE will be stepping into the main role after Garza. Ogundele will be his backup down the road. Iowa will have Nunge and a lot of 6'8" - 6'10" players (Ogundele, Patrick, Kris M, and Keegan M) compared to what they have for healthy inside players this year (Garza, Kriener, and Pemsl). I think OG is the guy who stands to gain the most from a redshirt year.
