I'm not sure about the rest of you, but losing on a Friday night like that makes for a long weekend. It makes for an even longer bye week. I'm not a huge fan of playing on Friday besides Black Friday in general.

I'm really looking forward to a Saturday of CFball without having to watch Iowa. I'd be ok with them getting out of the way on Thursday or Friday every week. I won't think about them again for 2 weeks.

At least get a bye, the west teams have to go all over hell and play at all kind of stupid times. Imagine if KF had to go out west 3 times a year! blowout city.

Friday night games should be reserved for conference opponents close to each other due to the short week and playing a Saturday night game the week before…west coast teams vs each other or IA vs Minny, IL, or NW. Just dumb to have a team travel half way across the country for them.

Between NIL, transfer portal, the ever expanding B1G, and my young sons’ busy sports schedules, I’m just not as invested emotionally in Iowa football as I was 5 or more years ago. Like, with players going where the money is anymore, and players wanting to transfer after a year or two if they do great and get a better offer elsewhere (or don’t play as much and think they could play more elsewhere), my loyalty as a fan has waned.

I still watch every game, and I want Iowa to win them all, but it’s not the same feeling as it was 5+ years ago. I no longer spend the entire game week reading about who’s starting, who’s hurt, which recruits are visiting that weekend, who’s hurt for the other team, etc. When it starts, I watch. When it’s over, win or lose, I spend an hour or so reacting to the game, but then I move on. I still come to this board, but the emotional part of the game is done… whereas years ago I’d be bummed for 2-3 days, sometimes longer.
