A lot of work injuries looked to be incurred today. Certainly looks like we may have new concussion situations now with Fant, IKM and others. Any one have a status update?

Fant laughing and taking pictures after the game. IKM went through concussion protocol, but seemed fine later.

I'd worry more about the D.

Hockaday gets an MRI tomorrow. Hearing possibly a meniscus.

I sure hope Fant doesn't have a concussion. I never like seeing concussions happen to anyone, but especially a kid with everything in front of him.

I hope Hockaday is ok. I just hope it doesn't stay with him.

Actually if it is only a torn meniscus that can be no big deal which can be cleaned up orthoscopically. I walked out of that surgery and was working out days later.
True. Meniscus would be good news and probably wouldn’t keep him out all that long. Obviously much better than an ACL, which would be season-ending.

I think we're down 2 of our top 3 LBs, 3 of our top 6. And our top 2 CBs are out. Plus, Amani Jones will miss the 1st half next week, due to the targeting call. So, that will be tricky. I think it already showed up this week in more big plays allowed. I just hope we come in with a good offensive gameplan next week.

PS: Does anyone know the situations for Niemann, Wade, Ojemudia and Hankins? I heard Niemann was a PCL?

PPS: I will not be shocked if we finally see a bunch of that 3 safeties look we heard about all off season.

Should we include mends in that number? He was scheduled to be a starter this season I think.

Move Hooker or Stone to linebacker and Iowa will be fine. Love seeing the freshman out there gaining experience and contributing.

I think we'll have Hankins & OJ back next week starting. Hankins in particular could have went but missed too much practice time. I'm more worried about Niemann gone for awhile. He's kind of the glue on the edge & boundary pass coverage.

Brents should still be out there in ojs spot

Correct, I forgot to mention I think Brent's will be a star & should start from here on out.

I hated seeing Fant get hurt on a play that had no business ever being a play in the playbook

The play reminded me, in a bad way, of Adam Robinson's concussion several years ago when he was inexplicably still in the game in the second half of Iowa's blowout win over MSU. Robinson was never the same after that and, eventually, ended up getting into some trouble that led to his dismissal. And the play that led to the concussion never, ever should have happened.

Using Fant like that was dumb. The dumb has nothing to do with the fact Noah went airborn and then suffered whiplash on the landing. Even All-American tight ends have no business trying to run a jet sweep. C'mon.... That just doesn't make any sense at all. Iowa can seldom make it work with the fastest guys on the roster let alone a TE. Wow.

Man I just don't see how a concussion can be blamed on a coach. Fant scores on that play and we're all happy. Fant hurdles a guy and we all post the replay on Facebook.

You don't know if it will work or not. That play is on tape now. What if they line up Hock on the same side the sweep is going, they fake the sweep, and Hock runs the seam for an easy TD. I thought we wanted Iowa to be alittle more creative in play calling?

Maybe we want whatever we don't get.

Nope, it's on Brian! Terrible play call. First of all, the play didn't work. So, it's automatically a terrible call because only good play calls work! Even if a call seems like a good one, if the defense steps up and gets a stop then the call is bad. And the OC is bad! Secondly, Big Bri got Fant hurt. A good OC doesn't get players hurt. They're so smart that they can see where injuries will occur and avoid them! Fire Brian. Fire everybody. Hire the forum.

I had same surgery in Army , torn lateral meniscus and was back running full PT after 4 weeks . Limited first 2 pretty bad, I would expect He would miss about the same time if that is the injury.

I was on the extreme end. I didn’t have surgery until weeks/months after injury so my timeline was probably compressed because all of the initial trauma had healed to the extent possible.

We ran that play last year with the same result

Yeah partial tear of my meniscus in the Navy had it scoped and was back PTing in about 10 days.

You're sarcasm level is pretty ridiculous. Obviously people know Fant didn't hit his head b/c of Brian. Our RBs couldn't even run on them but he calls a TE sweep? Silly decision.

I disagree, what is wrong with finding another way to get the ball in a playmakers hands? Looks like the injury occured when he jumped up into the air as he was being tackled.
