Lott award

Way to go Josey. Well-deserved honor. Way to represent Iowa in the best way possible during your time at Iowa, on and off the field. Also, good luck in your future endeavors. Hopefully that includes being a high draft pick this spring and playing in the NFL for as long as you desire with no injuries

This makes me very happy. I'm glad one of these award outfits finally got it right. They definitely settled on the most deserving player.

Congratulations Josie! A very deserved win!

Now, where is that email address for the Butkus Award committee......

Thanks. I appreciate it. I owe it all to you fans.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Lol. Why are you congratulating him on here? You don't actually think he follows this site do you?

He will really be missed both on and off the field. He is really good at using his hands, best I've seen by an Iowa LB. The play he made at Nebraska was great. TE was running a "smash out" when the TE went to push off, JJ held his ground while pulling down the TE left arm so the TE couldn't clear his left shoulder... result was the ball being thrown right to #44.

Note that the criteria for the award are "character and performance." I have been and continue to be a critic of Coach Ferentz for a lot of what happens--or doesn't--on the field, but he continues to look for kids who have athletic potential but who also are good people. I will always applaud and respect that.

I don't know how intelligent adults can support many of the individual players and teams around the country who are consistently oblivious to the "character" criteria when that is so crucial.

So congrats again to Josey Jewell, KF, and his staff for reeling in an award such as this.

And note also that Josey won over the other two finalists from Stanford and a place called Alabama....

Why are you congratulating them on here? They don't read or follow this site. There are some dumbass people on here. Are you expecting me (or someone else) to pass it on to them? When I see them next week I'll tell them that some anonymous poster said congrats. It will mean a lot to them, LMAO!!!

Some read these posts. Some of their families read these posts. Many players families have posted on boards in the past.
Josie actually said, before the season, that he gets motivation from people on these boards that doubt his abilities.
Recruits read these boards and should see that we appreciate our players.

Right, you're the guy who all the college football coaches and players listen to. Even some NFL guys I think you've said.

Message board "I Know the Players and Coaches and They Listen to Me" guy... coolest thing ever.

Some advice from A. Lincoln for Muskie5:

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

I'm here to tell you my friend Josey would much appreciate a positive comment from a fan it's been a long journey and Josey loves the support he's had from the Hawk fans. A very humble young man.

Hey this is great... I saw the mention the award was last night, but missed the update and had to go looking for it. Great news for a fine young man and representative for Iowa!

Dumbass list:

1. Muskie

Hell, it's a sweep

you and Josey are friends? Well make sure you tell him a bunch of anonymous posters with silly screen names congratulate him, lol. You guys are funny. You have no idea what the football and basketball athletes really think about these sites. They think they are a joke and think that most of the people on them are complete idiots. FACT! Ask them. I have asked a bunch of current and former players. You folks take yourselves way too seriously.

You're here.

Did the conversation go something like this....

Hey X, some guys and I were talking on a message board about what you guys think of them, what's your opinion?

(If so you 100% got the answer you deserved.)

You don't see the 'foolishness' of you congratulating him on here? Lol. Do you people really not understand that it is not a 'congratulation' unless in finds it's way to the recipient. "I congratulated him". "Please share my congratulations with him". "I sent a letter of congratulations to him.". You can't just congratulate the 'air', or people unrelated to the person or event. And doing it anonymously is even more silly. "unknown person with silly avatar congratulates you...how meaningful". LOL.....

Muskie's the guy who sees a coach or player out trying to get a bite minding their own business but nevertheless goes up to them, tells them how massively successful he's been coaching 7th grade football, throws ideas at them kind of like Kramer advising the NY Fire Department on better routes to get to fires in Manhattan, then he comes here and tells everyone how much he's respected and listened to by those players and coaches.

Pathetic, but funny at the same time.
