Two of my favorite actors. And the writing was pretty damn good. Add the visuals..... It is not a Best Picture type movie, but thoroughly entertaining. Even though I know who it plays out......that damn rattlesnake

It's up there for my favorite westerns, and I think it is one of the few western remakes that beats the original, although I liked that one as a kid too. Love the Coen brothers' brutally realist take of the sometimes cheesy western story. The ending always puts a lump in my throat. Great story of the price of revenge. Vengeance belongs to Him (Romans 12:19). The Charles Portis novel is great too. Movie is pretty true to it, but some interesting differences. Recommend the book.
