Didn't see a thread on the Free Board though.

Sporting News puts together a First Team All American team for
Mid Season and Luka Garza is named to the 5 man 1st team.

Do fans appreciate what Luka has been doing, so far?

I'm not sure if most Hawkeyes realize how lucky they are to have Luka.

One of the five best basketball players in America = Iowa's Luka Garza.

I don't know that anyone has deserved all-American recognition more than this young man does. It's gratifying to see a Hawkeye receive the adulation he has worked so hard to attain. Just awesome. Can't wait to see him and his teammates get even with Michigan.

In a college basketball season with more parity than I remember it is a true advantage, IMO, to have the best player in the country at one of the five positions.

We are taking my 8 year old grandson to the game on Super Bowl Sunday. He is a huge Luka fan and his face lit up when he opened his Christmas gift. Does anyone remember our last first team All-American?

Uthoff in 2016. Before that it was Wooldridge in 1997.

Edit - my bad, you said 1st team. It was Lester, in 79 then again in 80.

Thanks for doing the research. Ronnie Lester is the greatest player I have ever seen in person. His senior year knee injury was tragic and may well have prevented Iowa from winning the national championship.

Agreed. Watched Lester his last 2 years at the old Field House. He was unbelievable. Had a stutter step driving down court that there was no defense for as he blew right past everyone. So much fun to watch and the old barn was rocking. Never been in a place close to that loud outside of a rock concert. Too bad that hasn't been the case at Carver.
