With a better QB Lazzard would've had 200 yards. It was obvious they were targeting Mabin. This is a real concern, a better team will eat him alive.

We have had far worse cb's than Mabin on both sides of the field and still had solid defenses. It's a team defense and not just one guy on an Island all the time. While Mabin will be picked on, He is far from a slug, King being dominant really gives the staff some nice schematic advantages they can use once they get into the meat of the Big schedule

Not concerned in the least. He was only out of position bad once that I saw.
If your QB and WR and in sync it is almost impossible to stop them. Lanning was not very good last night.

Mabin is fine. He is a well above average corner.

The difference is he gets ALL the shots against him AND the average fan has absolutely zero clue how coverages work and many of the breakdowns in that first game likely weren't even entirely his fault and looked worse than they actually were. Add to that the fact that the back shoulder fade is nearly impossible to defend he's done an admiral job this year and he's going to be just fine

You are delusional. Mabin is not fine, he was exposed last night by a garbage quarterback. A better QB and ISU has 300 yards passing, most against him.

I agree with you...even with the unintended navy reference. :D

Go back and reread my post. It is specifically for uninformed people like yourself.

Didn't ISU try a back shoulder throw to Lazard? The same type of throw that killed him against Miami? Didn't Mabin defend it perfectly and swatted the ball away? Ya, must be rough being that bad.

So you want to bench him for the freshman, right? Ah, then they'll start throwing at King all the time! Smart thinking coach.

When the left side of the field is Mabin, Bower, and Snyder I get a little worried. Mabin was playing last year on a team that went 12-0. I think we'll be alright.

Mabin is an average corner for a power 5 school imo, but i thought King was supposed to match up with "Lazard" the whole game not mabin is what I heard all week.

He's been starting for 3 years don't know why nobody can spell his name just like everyone spelled "Gesell" wrong for four years.

Totally disagree. Mabin played well yesterday, you are not going to stop a talented receiver like Lazard all the time. We also need to improve our pass rush, which is a big part of a good pass defense. I think we will. Go Hawks!

Their starting QB had 86 passing yards and came out late 3rd quarter. Their backup had 79 passing yards in total garbage time. Half of Lazard's yards came in garbage time.

He had a rough game vs. Miami and that worried me. He played well last night. True that with a better QB, Lazard would have had a bigger night but he (Lazard) is the best player on the team and will play on Sundays.

I have seen a few hint around this and someone who knows more about defensive back play can help me.

How much are the safeties the problem? I haven't been thrilled with Mabin at times but I feel like he's not getting a lot of help.
