They caved, and should not have on this provision:
One key provision that Republicans' new government funding bill stripped out: a bill to screen U.S. investments in critical sectors in China. This outbound investment provision was agreed to after months of bipartisan, bicameral negotiations and years of advocacy from Members of Congress.
This loophole now enables Trump & Musk to do whatever they want, and pick winners/losers who get to hand over US tech and secrets, and enable them to personally profit w/o any oversight.
Passage of this bill would have eliminated Trump's ability to do this, and Elon would have had to follow the law, not what he tricks Trump into doing.
This is how you build an oligarchy, not retain a Rule of Law free market democracy.
