If you make plans with your spouse and give a time frame, for example: “Let’s plan to leave between 8 and 8:30.”

Do you expect to leave closer to 8 or closer to 8:30? Which side of the timeframe does your S/O or people close to you fall under?

If we need to leave between 8-8:30 I tell my wife we need to leave by 7:30. It took about 3 years to figure this out and has greatly helped my blood pressure.

This, exactly! My no pic wife and I are exact opposite on being on time. Now that she has her own business, she’s gotten better, but still operates on island time.

If I say “we need to leave by 8:30” that’s because we actually need to leave by 9 at the latest

I had to figure this out with my (no pic) girlfriend. If I just give a time, it's considered a ballpark suggestion. If we have a firm departure time, I have to say it's a firm departure time.

I try to just set a time and if we’re within 5 min of that time when we leave I am surprised.

My wife’s lack of timeliness drives me nuts. It doesn’t take her that much time to get ready, she just starts way too late. Been an issue for 30 years.

Between that and our driving arguments, I am surprised we are still married, tbh.

Is this a safe thread where those of us married to super organized spouses can talk about being in a fragile place today as OSU mopped up the field with the Hawkeyes as my super organized wife started checking on how I’d packed for our upcoming trip to Oregon, and “asked”, if I had room for items to put in my suitcase?

Yeah, I’m glad I don’t have a high maintenance wife like so many of you apparently do. She’s naturally pretty and doesn’t need to spend much time getting ready. If we set a time, we’re both ready to go at least 10 mins before set time. My teenage kids on the other hand are always late, so we usually tell them to be ready 15 mins before we need to actually leave.

I finally just started saying "car is leaving at so and so time. If you want to ride with us be ready then, if not you'll have to drive yourself or not attend". It can't be an empty threat, so when the time comes you leave. You gave her two options and she chose the latter two options.

I would expect to be sitting in the car with the kids at about 8:15 with plenty time to wait to see her about 15 minutes later take the kitchen garbage out and announce “I’ve just got to scoop the litter box” before disappearing back inside for another 15 minutes or so.

It means I want to leave at 8:00, but we can prob be on time as long as we leave by 8:30.

I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes for the wife to put in one misbehaving earring before we can go to dinner.
30 years together has taught me to not say a word, just post about it to strangers. God forbid we just go without the earrings. I would suggest she try swearing at them, but she’s tried that already.
