Nothing was thrown until one cup hit captain table layer. If he just goes to bench nothing happens
If db in the stands doesn't throw a beer, nothing happens.

I watched it live and remember seeing the replay and immediately wishing the players beat the shit out of more fans. It was awful behavior.Saw it. Quite good at telling the complete story. Some of which is well known and some isn't. I'm a Pistons fan, and I always blamed the drunks at that game more than the players, and I'm glad they covered the low-key racist reaction of the news media towards the players.
Did that really need a documentary?
I heard he only threw it cause Ron Dumb Dumb said he was thirsty. If db in the stands doesn't throw a beer, nothing happens.
It's Detroit. It takes us 45 minutes to respond to a homicide. Do you think we care about a little scuffle at a basketball game?Or... if there was actual security and police on-hand, likely nothing happens. There’s a reason (and it’s sad thst) a lot of nba players hire their own security now to be at games.
You're still making excuses for the fans.I heard he only threw it cause Ron Dumb Dumb said he was thirsty.
(on a serious note you;re right. But, you missed my point that still came AFTER artest acted like a total D-bag. If he just goes to the bench after the under the basket scuffle. Its over. Instead he goes and lays across teh scoring table for the home team right in full view of everybody)
I think that word only had so much racial undertones later and because of events like this. Back then it didn't ring with racism like it would if said now. What stood out is how easily sportscasters and others referred to the players involved as thugs. There is a lot of criticism to go around, but immediately going to a word with racial undertones is noticeable.
The other thing that pops out is yes, Artest committed a hard foul, but Ben Wallace's reaction was over the top. The Pistons were not happy they were dominated and Ben Wallace let the Pacers know. The brawl could have been easily avoided.

If ben Wallace doesn't throw headbands, does fan throw beer?If db in the stands doesn't throw a beer, nothing happens.
I thought of the exact same incident at the time , which brings me to...Hockey players don't get no respect. This scrap needed a catchy name like "malice in the palace" & maybe it would be better remembered. Always loved Milbury pulling off the dude's shoe & then beating him with it. 🤣
...At the time, as a guy who is more of a hockey fan, it was obvious many in the media talked very differently about the basketball players than they did the hockey players. Mike Milbury was just chuckled at, and the attitude of it was “that’s hockey players and fans for ya.”I think that word only had so much racial undertones later and because of events like this. Look at you. Trying to determine what is acceptable, what might "deserve" a fan throwing something. JFC. And I'll never understand the hate for MWP. He's been super-open about his struggles, his traumas growing up, how they affect him, how he's learning to process and improve as a human.JFC what?
Did Meta world Tool bag not lay across a table?
I think you missed the part in the last 12 years where ANYC has admitted plenty of times he grew up in Detroit.Look at you. Does his honesty and openness scare you? Threaten you?
So you're irrational. Thanks.I think you missed the part i nthe last 12 years where ANYC has admitted plenty of times he grew up in Detroit.
(and I don't really give a flip about MWP or what he's done afterwards. He was a dirty player in the 03-04 range and a tool bag that night. I don't have to like him. There is no requirement. Just like I will never ever root for the Avs or one of their players)

30 days. 2 years probation.I always thought the players got a raw deal. Wallace was the one who lit the match... guy who tossed drink at Artest started the fire and Ron going into the crowd was pouring gas on the flames. The lack of security was alarming to say the least. NBA learned from this because it's like Ft. Knox at games now. Maybe I missed it... but what was the Green guy who tossed drinks criminal penalty?
Based on my previous 46K posts, that shouldn't be such a shock.
Well considering i had 30K before likes existed, catching up wasn't gonna be an overnight process. And your Ratio of Posts/Likes is Turrible!
