He's a very skilled PF/C. Shoots from 3 and handles well from clips I've seen. Think Williams has been #1 on Fran's 2017 recruiting radar for awhile.
Sounds great. Saw the video of the other big who looks like a one and done type player. He sounds similar. Thanks

Williams would be a GREAT addition. Long, talented player. Think an advanced version of Dom. The game should have him thinking that Iowa would be a tremendous place to play.

Malik would be a great addition to the size we have coming in. Great to see the other recruits are bonding.

Where would we get the 'ship? We'd be talking about Creaning multiple guys. Baer has also earned a scholly if we have one.

Aren't we graduating like 4 guys this year or are those already spoken for?

We have 4 2016 commits. Next year we'll graduate Jok (and maybe/maybe not Jones) and replace him with Connor Mac. If we do graduate Jones, how do you not give that ship to Baer? We'd be talking about transfers.

Um for a guy like Malik Williams, there needs to be room. Either Jones rides off into the sunset, Connor walks on for a year, and Baer shouldn't take the scholarship over a top 40 recruit.......sorry but we need to consider what's best for the long term of the program.

Williams and tilmon, you make room for guys that big and athletic. Williams is a talented kid, can shoot and athletic for 6'11". Too bad we don't have room for his teammate Jordan Gorman too. He looks like Tyler ulis but can really shoot and handle the ball.
We need a big to compliment Wagner and cook. Tilmon or Williams would be absolutely massive for our program and we could put as athletic a frontcourt on the floor as any team in the big ten.

This times a billion. If you can land a program changing recruit, you find the room. If Jones is back, my guess is that Connor walks on for a year.

I question weather Jones will be healthy. 2 ACL tears in the last 3 years. There's one more scholarship left for 2017 but I'm sure there will be another one available by th Spring.

Yup, its really too bad too because he has a sweet shot and proved that he can rebound the basketball. Its just a fluke that the team is playing so well w/ him being out.

Well, first of all you don't invite Malik Williams to a game at Carver Hawkeye unless you're recruiting him. That means that there is indeed a scholarship available if he says he's on board. Because Fran's kids are apparently legit DI players, that gives Iowa a HUGE advantage when it comes to scholarship flexibility, and nobody has to get Creaned.

My guess is Fran goes after a couple of these highly rated program changers (theoretically of course - on paper), and ONLY them for that particular class, since the scholarships are already spoken for. You don't get a Malik Williams? Fine, give Connor his scholarship and get on with life. Somehow I could picture Connor McCaffery sleeping well at night knowing he'd be playing with a guy like Williams, as opposed to crying over being a "walk-on". He's supposed to be smart enough to get into College, I think he'll be able to understand the what's and why's and the ramifications. And before he's done at Iowa, I'm sure good ol' Dad will make sure he's on scholarship at some point, since we care so much about feelings and all these days.................

You don't think we invite kids who we like but may not offer or have room for?

Since MSU and PD have been considered top options for Williams, and we swept them both, Iowa has to be looking rather attractive to him. Add to that, Iowa's star is a player to whose game I could easily see Williams aspiring. Plus, Fran is a high COY candidate who has shown a strong preference for using long lean players like Williams (White, JU, Uhl...). These considerations would seem to indicate that Iowa might have a decent shot at him.

A lot f these kids look at the social life on campus also. Looks like leads for Wilkes. I know Scruggs is also a top priority.

These top players should take notice. Fran and staff are developing players to the top of their ability by the time they leave Iowa. If you want excellent coaching that will translate to the next level Iowa should be strongly considered.

We will have room. There will be a player leaving after this year from the freshmen class.
We got a lot of guys fighting for playing time. The two that our red shirting this year are both really
good players and will be in the mix for playing time next year.
